Just went to tinypic and got one of those "fake surveys" pop up, oh well I suppose they have to pay the bill somehow. I suspect that a lot of these sites will be seeing an increase in traffic, both in and out, so I wonder how long before one of the others, flickr, imgur, etc suddenly start to charge? Or if you want "free" you have to agree to an advert being added to your picture. Make the most of it, I suspect this is the beginning of the end of the "free internet". |

Just went to tinypic and got one of those "fake surveys" pop up, oh well I suppose they have to pay the bill somehow. Well, either that or there shall be more smaller startups that will be happy to make do with the advertising revenue they can generate providing a free service to fill the niche that Photobucket has created with their greed. If I were an investor with deep pockets, that's where I would go right now. Maybe call it Photowagon. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Just went to tinypic and got one of those "fake surveys" pop up, oh well I suppose they have to pay the bill somehow. I have never seen a tiny pic popup with a survey. Occassionally they make you watch or read an add then give you a password to enter. Enter the password and you get a link. The pictures never have an add once posted. For example here is a picture of the Whittier Fire from last night. I just uploaded and was not even asked to watch the add. ![]() ![]() |

I expect You Tube to join the greedy bus soon, too. :~( ![]() |

I expect You Tube to join the greedy bus soon, too. :~( Greedy? I think many content providers have been overestimating the income from advertising . Bottom line is that "free" information is only available at a cost. For instance reading news media like Dagens Nyheter, New York Times and Washington Post are now restricted to a few articles a month if you don't subscribe. Let's say that Youtube join the greedy bus. Well, first of all they will loose many users that perhaps should have read even the ads. Which will then mean that Youtube will cease to exist in the long run. |

For anyone with sig file Photobucket issues, I have a private repository of pix and graphics online, and I'll be happy to "host" your sig file photo/illustration for you. And if it's real big (too big), I can resize it for you. Just let me know. ~Sue~ ![]() |

They may be running out of people to look at their adds. I hope so and I hope they go down the tubes. |

I got the Photobucket Nastygram, yesterday. So, I believe that ALL of my prior postings with Photobucket Links have now been blocked by them going all the way back to 2006 postings here. Thankfully, as I've mentioned in an earlier post, I've already downloaded all my PB Content back to my MAC. Unfortunately, some of my stuff was eliminated by PB without consent, nor notification at some point in the past few years. Those items were short videos from Babylon 5 from the TNT Website that was available back then for fans to make use of and DL. These items go back to 1998 from my first MAC Clone, and were copied to my PCs in 2006 and then Uploaded from my PCs to my then newly created PB Account in 2006. These older machines are ALL in storage, now; MANY miles away from me, and NOT easily gotten to. Should the drives on them die, or are dead now, these items will forever be lost to me... :-( I don't think TNT has them up anymore, as B-5 has been off the air for SOOOOO LOOOONG... Question to ALL: What replacement Site is recommended, now??? I noticed that the Admiral has gotten his Signature Raccoon Pic back up; but, don't know what Service he's using, now. Replacement Service Site needs to be FREE to use, as I have NO available funds at this time. ALL monies taken in at this point are ALL spoken for within $20 a month free spendable cash for a movie now and then... Everything else goes to Medical Insurances, Dental, and VSP Insurances, monthly bills, Vonage Annual Expenses, and estimated car maintenance as the car is now 8 years old... (Seems like every maintenance item on my 2009 Civic Hybrid costs $150 to $180!!!!! (Except oil changes which are about $50.)) God, how PB has turned so SUUUUUCKKKKYYYYY!!!!!! :-O TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Wikipedia has a list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_image-sharing_websites However: DO NOT trust any of them to be "free for ever". DO NOT trust any of them as your main means of photo storage. Over the years a significant number of free "services" have vanished, or have started to charge. While Facebook may be free, it does have some significant restrictions on viewing if one is not a subscriber, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see it start to charge for "heavy users" in the near future. Also Facebook is a "favourite" to be blocked by corporate thought Po-Lice. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I have an idea, you could do what I did, and get a FREE phone, from Assurance Wireless and the CA Lifeline Program, I ported My phone number to the phone, it works, saved Me $30.00 a month, and best of all, no more phone bill. Thanks, but I already have a cell phone that my dad pays for right now. My Vonage Home Phone IS my Lifeline. I'm able to call Land Lines in 60+ countries for FREE. (Well, included in the Annual Bill...) Less than $400 a YEAR for my Vonage, ALL Taxes and Fees included. Broken down, that's $33.33 a month for UNLIMITED calling. I'll stick with Vonage. (...AND, in the US, I also can call all cell phones.) VM to e-Mail translation, Call Forwarding, Anonymous Call Block, Permanent Call Block up to 50 Numbers, Simulring - which I make use of for Nomorobo to block Telemarketers, Sales Crap Calls and Scammers. Plus, two free "extension points" which allow me to assign two cell phones to my account. The Extensions can then make use of a US Access Number, then can call ALL the foreign countries my Vonage Line can call - for FREE. I've assigned my best friend's Home Phone, and his wife's Cell Phone to both my Extension points. This allows them to call Belgium Land Lines, and India Land Lines for the price, (if any), of the Access Point Number call. If you have Unlimited Nationwide Calling, (which he does), then even the US Access Point Number call is free. So, as you can see, Vonage is the way to go for me. A "Free" cell phone doesn't give me any of the above features, nor benefits. So, with Vonage, my existing cell phone is made available to ONLY my family and friends, and is ONLY used when I'm in the car, or for emergencies. Most of the time my cell phone is powered off. Wikipedia has a list: From that list, it looks like I'm going to try Imgur, next. Thanks Rob. :-) TL [EDIT:] Well, for some reason, Imgur DOES NOT like my images. I upload the images and ALL I GET is "Image Removed from Album"... These Images are FREE from the Web, and I've had them in Photobucket for YEARS!!! So, I guess I won't be posting images here anymore... :-( TL [EDIT 2:] Well, Take 2: Got it working now. Here's a test: Doctor WHO .gif with my face. TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... I don't know what the initial problem was with Imgur; but, all fixed now. I will be busy Uploading my Photobucket stuff to Imgur, now. I've made my Imgur Account "Private", so it's NOT allowing me "IMG" Links; just URL DIrect Links. Maybe I'll change this later... Another Test: Jelly Babies. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel...
