Because it is - just that the focus just now is on the situation in the UK. Also there has been less re-working of older buildings and more demolish and replace - the rules for re-working tend to be less stringent than new-build, which in my book is not a good way to do things.

Given my understanding of your views on gun control, I think you missed my sarcasm. Gun control doesn't mean taking them all away and the answer is not to arm all the citizens as that will absolutely make things worse. Police arriving on scene will not be able to immediately tell who the hostile is, possibly until after it's too late.

In a properly civilised country, copies of the local paper would be archived in the local public library for future research - at worst, on microfilm. But I bet that's been binned too.
