Hello,
when I first came to this site to create an account (from the "project website" button in the BOINC-Manager-Window), I saw my own OS X user name as a suggestion for my account name here.

I think it's a violation of privacy to steal my private account name from my computer without asking me (even if I'm allowed to change it).

I like to help science by offering my CPU for seti@home and other projects, but your way of handling private data upsets me.

The account name on my computer is PRIVATE DATA, it is not meant to be public! And it is not needed for running SETI@home. I would like to have an explanation from you about that, and I would prefer that you change that function and take your user's privacy serious.

As reading your logon name is a BOINC function, you would be better to post this at the BOINC Manager forum as this one is for getting SETI@Home to work with BOINC, not for BOINC development issues.

Many systems, not just BOINC, choose computer names, local user names, email addresses as their suggested user name. It's only a suggestion, you can change it at any time as your unique identifier is your user number over which you have no control.
