Oh Oh, it looks like some server trouble is surfacing now.

. . Yep, I only have 50 Wus in my GPU queue (2 x GPUs) but the servers keep telling me I have reached my limit ... :(

. . I can only wonder how low it has to go before the server will send me some more ... ??

Stephen

??

[edit] It has now let me have over more 50 WUs but several have been completed in that time and I now have 95 (still a long way from 200) but it is again saying my quota is full ...

:(

It's the Application preferences issue reoccurring.
I've had to flip them back and forth a few times today to keep the work coming.

I just checked my logs, but there was no sign of any problems here.

Cheers.

. .As before it seems the problems are selective in which machines they affect.

And now the RTS cache is empty ... sigh :(

The kitties have sent the usual messages of alarm.
Dunno if anybody will get them on this Sunday, and holiday weekend.
And, it's only about 7:30AM in Berkeley.

I suspect a server or process that everything else relies on has crashed in the background.
Probably tying into the master database.

Meow.

EDIT.....
Jeff is up early this morning. Just got word that he is looking into the problem.

And..................
Back underway.
Jeff says it was due to an 'informix logical log backup issue'.
Hmmm....don't think I ever heard of that one before.

Things are recovering quickly.
The downtime was very short, due to Jeff's early rising and quick fix.
Thank you, Jeff!

Thank you Mr. Kitty and Jeff.

It's good that I can crunch today, since I won't be of Tuesday. I will be in the hospital undergoing my own maintenance during the seti maintenance. So no cache stuffing for me.

Wonder if this might have been what happened? Problem: Full logical log files will stop an Informix database

How do you pull up the entire list? When I click it I get the host he referenced, but didn't see a way to show the entire list of hosts. Thanks!

Easiest way is Home_Page-> Computing-> Statistics -> Top Computers

:P
And for ppl like myself as well. ;-) Thanks guys for the pointers, simple enough, once you know what exactly you're looking for, and where to find it!

That certainly seems to fit Jeff's description of the problem.

Well I must say that having the servers come back online before midnight UTC (or 10am here) for the 2nd week in a row is nice instead of having it encroach on Beer O'clock. :-)

Now if I could just shake this damn flu. :-(

Cheers.

Thread has gone cold. Is anybody else having issues getting work? I have had nothing but "no work is available" across all systems for the entire afternoon, and now into evening. All I get is 1 task every 30 minutes or so on all systems. Do we have stuck splitters again?

No problems at all showing in my logs.

Your likely just suffering that problem Grant described earlier.

It's the Application preferences issue reoccurring.

Well, I have tried the Preferences flip-flip just about every 5 minutes or so since noon. Nothing has changed and I still can't get work.

Things look pretty good on my end. Since this only covers about the past 24 hours Tuesday recovery does cause the request not gaining work to be higher than average.
Total number of work requests: 538
Number of requests gaining work: 50
Number of requests not gaining work: 484
Number of requests that hit project task limit: 207
Number of requests not gaining work: 255 (because request was too recent)
Number of requests not gaining work: 18 (not including project task limit, or too recent)
Number of times no work was requested: 4
Number of tasks gained: 78

Tasks per request percent and count: Total (538 requests)
0 tasks: 89 %, 484
1 tasks: 8 %, 45
2 tasks: 0 %, 2
3 tasks: 0 %, 1
4 tasks: 0 %, 1

Tasks per request percent and count: Total (50 gained and 18 valid zero requests) 68
0 tasks: 26 %, 18
1 tasks: 66 %, 45
2 tasks: 2 %, 2
3 tasks: 1 %, 1
4 tasks: 1 %, 1

Tasks per request percent and count: Total (Only when work assigned)
1 tasks: 90 %, 45
2 tasks: 4 %, 2
3 tasks: 2 %, 1
4 tasks: 2 %, 1
