If people are sending threatening messages to Eric over Facebook or other social media, or even via Private Message here on the site threatening to pull their support because Berkeley cancelled a speech (which was cancelled, by the way, because they didn't file it correctly, not because they didn't like the speaker), then this is EXACTLY the right place to bellyache.

i do not know why people want to riot. if certain groups are ignored then they will stop having their little tantrums. i would like to be able to donate funds to seti but my 500 dollar social security check does not go very far. all i can do is to process data. burkley is not one of my favorite memories. all the people protesting us coming back from vietnam alive. many things about this country can be made better but the want of one can rule the lives of many. what would be done back in the days of "the little house on the prairie".

My one and only comment on this , being a fellow vet (welcome home by the way....anyone else told you that yet?) will be that Berekley is and always will be it's own worst enemy..........

Those kids on UC Berkeley, including the staff and Regents, need to kick their fancy hats off their heads and get their butts kicked. Freedom of Speech never, EVER, meant creating a disturbance. No. It does not 'obviously' alienate 'every' white person. I am, and I am not, cause those whack jobs don't represent anything about me, so I have no problem with them being called out for being the waste of oxygen that they are. Well, all I can say is I've been a part of this project crunching WUs since Bill Clinton was in the WH. I've been crunching them day and night on several different PC builds over the years, and I have no intention of stopping now, no matter what silliness transpires over at UC Berkeley.

Thank you SETI@Home Team for helping make sure my PC has something to do when I'm not sitting in front of it. And my power company would like to thank you as well. :D Be well, and stay safe over there!

What if there are lifeforms out there which are thousands, ten thousands or even hundred thousands of years ahead of us in terms of civilization, technology, science and knowledge? What if there are lifeforms out there that are much more "intelligent" than we are?
They may be aware of us but have no intentions to contact us because for them we are just a bunch of greedy barbars? It could be easy for those beeings to trick us into believing that we're alone.
