Ukraine will not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest-2019
All three finalists of the National Selection refused to participate in the Eurovision Contest.

Also, it's interesting and shows Ukrainian reality - "the National Selection-2019 revealed and attracted the attention of our society to the systemic problem of the music industry in Ukraine: the connections of artists from the show business in the territory of the aggressor state, which are still very close at the 5th year of the military conflict."

Anna Korsun chosed to pull out after political pressure and doesn't want to be part off any propaganda.
https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-47394371
Among other things, it would have prevented her from performing in Russia in the run-up to Eurovision. The singer was happy to scrap her concert plans, but argued that other clauses would have made her a mouthpiece for propaganda.
"I am a musician, rather than a tool of the the political stage," she wrote in a statement announcing her withdrawal.

Ironically, the row could hand Russia victory in this year's contest, which takes place in Tel Aviv in May.
The country will be represented by homegrown superstar Sergey Lazarev, who took third place at Eurovision 2016, in a shock defeat to... Ukraine.
"Losing was a very bitter pill to swallow for the Russians," recalls Dr Jordan. "But losing to Ukraine was even more unacceptable.
"They're desperate to win and I think they're out for revenge. So my money's on Russia, without even hearing the song."

Meanwhile...
All criminal cases on illegal enrichment to be closed following Constitutional Court's "political" move – NABU
The anti-corruption watchdog NABU raises alarm over the CCU decision's consequences.
https://www.unian.info/politics/10462938-all-criminal-cases-on-illegal-enrichment-to-be-closed-following-constitutional-court-s-political-move-nabu.html
The abolition by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine of the Criminal Code article providing for liability for illegal enrichment is a step backward in anti-corruption reform, the National Anti-corruption Bureau says.
Such a move, NABU opines, is politically motivated and contradicts Ukraine's obligations under the ratified UN Convention against Corruption, the agreements with the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.

Will Ukraine's former president Viktor Yanukovych criminal cases on illegal enrichment be closed as well?
https://www.svt.se/special/swedbank/english/yanukovych/
He plundered state coffers and was convicted of treason.
In 1993 Yanukovych had been president of Ukraine for four years, but he had also been building up a private fortune by funneling money out of the country via corporate accounts in European banks. An estimated USD 30 billion were stolen from the state coffers. Now SVT can reveal that Ukraine’s former president Viktor Yanukovych funneled EUR 3.7 million through an account in Swedbank. The funds are linked to a suspected bribe – and have been known to Swedbank since 2017, according to documents SVT has received.

Neither should be considered a Lawful Country.
You mean that oligarchs should be lawful? LOL:)
List of Russian oligarchs. Quite an impressive list. Many of them are of course close friends to Putin.

List of Ukrainian oligarchs.

Ops. Petro Porosjenko and Julia Tymosjenko in the list... Both are presidental candidates in this year's election!

Regarding Putin's attempt to restore the borders of the Imperialist Communist Soviet Union.
Putin's attempt to subjugate people outside of Russia has nothing to do with any Economic System. Be it Communism or Capitalism.
Eh? I discussed the Russian and Ukrainian "laissez faire" economic systems that they share.
Is it Communism or Capitalism? Beats me, who knows...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laissez-faire
Whatever.
As for the Russian borders. It's not a Soviet idea. It's much older than that.
It's started with Peter the Great in the early 1700's :)

The 2019 Ukrainian presidential election is near.
Volodymyr Zelensky is one of leading candidates. He is being called the 'Ukrainian Donald Trump'.
Zelensky played the role of President of Ukraine in the hugely popular 2015 television series Servant of the People.
Other candidates are incumbent president Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko, the country’s former prime minister.

Well, there goes the alleged western Ukrainian anti-semitic people that Russia and eastern Ukrainian always like to portray them as out the window:)

UNIAN: Ukrainian business oligarch Kolomoyskyi about Poroshenko and elections.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do I want him to lose the election? I do not want him to get a second term and rules for another five years. Because the first five years, I believe, were five years of disappointment. War, devastation, decline in GDP, the emigration of a large part of the population, a decrease in the number of working-age population in Ukraine ... Everything is bad. There is nothing good. I can not write anything to him in an asset. It is enough to give two numbers. GDP - 116 billion for 2018. And per capita income, per capita GDP - $ 2,700. This is less than in Africa or Asia. These are the digital, statistical results of these five years of government. And where to go next? Enough. Let someone else do something useful.
[...]
Poroshenko creates new conflict situations, provocations, like in the Kerch Strait. And telling that the Russians did it ... The Russians did nothing there. We ourselves created a provocative situation and sent 23 or 24 people into prison.
[...]
It's a mystery to me, as the western partners of Ukraine do not see how evil Poroshenko is for Ukraine.

Ihor Kolomojskyj. Vladimir Zelensky, who lead the presidential election polls, is accused of being the puppet of him:)
And Kolomojskyj seems to be very much part of the problem that Ukraine have.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihor_Kolomoyskyi#Kolomoyskyi_and_Ukrainian_politics

And when Swedish SVT asked Julia Tymosjenko, the other candidate, about the mistrust to politicians she forget her own role.
At all meetings I hear that life has become extremely much worse in five years.
People have no confidence at all for today's rulers.
This applies to both the president, the government and the elected representatives - and people are right.
Alas Ukraine.

Bears in Russian Zoo Predict Ukrainian Election

https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2019/03/28/bears-in-russian-zoo-predict-ukrainian-election-a65002
"Anyone but Poroshenko!" cried the crowd in a Russian zoo on Thursday as a brown bear made its way toward a butternut squash bearing a picture of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

Looks like Buyan the bear was right:)
CEC provided preliminary turnout data as of 20:00 - 63.92%. This is data from 103 territorial constituencies (there are 199 of them).

Oh. In the Chernivtsi region, one of the voters, instead of a ballot, threw his passport into the ballot box. Hehe:)

Привіт товариші and Привет товарищи
Russia and Ukraine Fight, But Their People Seek Reconciliation
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-03/russia-and-ukraine-fight-but-their-people-want-reconciliation
Some 77 percent of Ukrainians said they have a positive attitude toward Russians, while 82 percent of Russians felt similarly disposed toward Ukrainians. As far as their feelings toward Russia as a whole, some 57 percent of Ukrainians said they felt favorably, up from 30 percent in May 2015.
Feelings toward governments were a different matter. Ukrainians remain very negative about Vladimir Putin—69 percent view the Russian president and his government as bad or very bad, while 85 percent of Russians expressed a negative attitude about Poroshenko’s administration, according to the poll.

Perhaps we don't get the leadership we deserve ;)
Or perhaps the leadership we expected.
It's like Trump's campaign song "You can't always get want you want". (Actually used without Rolling Stones's permission)
When voting you always have to do compromises.
Then there is also always a difference between the before and the after of an election.

And just now this in from Ukraine about voters trust in elections:(
Three-quarters of Ukrainians expect fraud in runoff – poll
Residents of the south and the east are among those who expect large-scale election fraud.

Today it's the Ukraine presidential election.
I wonder if news media over the world will finally stop calling the Ukrainian capital Kiev like Russia call it.
No. It's called Kyiv, nothing else.
Kyiv is the right version as decided by UNCSGN (United Nations Conferences on the Standardization of Geographical Names) and UNGEGN (United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names)."Kiev" is in Russian.
"Kyiv" is in Ukrainian, which makes it the right way to write, since Ukraine is an independent country. Same goes with the name of Ukraine: Ukraine, not "the Ukraine". And, in Russian, "v Ukraine/в Украине" (in Ukraine), not "na Ukraine/на Украине" (on [the territory of] Ukraine).
