Somebody on the staff has activated three additional splitters to help us blast through the remaining work as quickly as possible. That would be Eric, bless his heart, on Superbowl Sunday. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Looks like the server is still down. 2 of my faster PCs have been idle now for 2 days as well. ~Chris |

When in doubt, refer to the Server Status Page (SSP). It takes a bit of experience to decipher, but ask in Number Crunching if you need a helping hand. Work is in short supply, but it does exist, and the servers are still dishing it out - not on every request, though. |

Do you think they're still having problems with it? I still don't have WU's :( |

Actually, I don't think it's Centurion's hardware at fault this time - it was handling the MESSIER tapes just fine last week, until they ran out. Although both SETI@Home and - especially - Breakthrough Listen have been singularly uncommunicative of late, there is evidence behind the scenes that the staff are working on an incompatibility between the way BL are recording data, and the way that SETI is set up to handle the recordings. Yesterday, Jeff Cobb wrote: This code results in the correct frequency for BL guppiSo, I'm assuming that after a bit more testing, they're almost ready to restart the BL 'HIP' pipeline. Until then, we're running on the fumes of the Arecibo tapes from 2008. |

Until then, we're running on the fumes of the Arecibo tapes from 2008. Thankfully they haven't reached bottom of that box yet. (Are there any more boxes lying around yet to be emptied?) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

(Are there any more boxes lying around yet to be emptied?)Checked my database, and the answer is - 42. (Yes, really - tapes, that is, not boxes) But we've barely touched 2007 yet... |

So we can say there a few left in the current box and (at least) one more box to go :-) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

And that seems to be about that. Our staff fixed the Breakthrough Listen splitters, and we've run through all the available data. But the Arecibo splitters got broken in the process. The search for ET will resume when Breakthrough Listen fund enough staff to keep every link in their processing chain functional at the same time. Server Status Page |

If you really had CDO you would have put the letters in their correct order. ;-) |

If you really had CDO you would have put the letters in their correct order. ;-) They are already... they are sorted by roundness in descending order! :^) And to anyone not getting work for days try restarting the BOINC client, check over your preferences, maybe even reboot. There's no way it should have been this long for anyone, at most a few hours on all of my machines (and this is without "micromanaging" their requesting.) The client will sometimes just get stuck where it is not requesting work every five minutes if it doesn't have enough on either platform. |

... it means a trip into town to fix anything serious. There is only so much you can do with remote login capability. We should have a fundraiser for a robotic assistant to be placed at the remote site so they can use it to do remote work. Now as long as it doesn't get struck by lightning and starts asking for more input... |
