After the Nobel Prize for medicine, assigned to Yoshinori Ohsumi,Japan for study of 'self eating' cells, we are waiting for the prizes in Physics.. The prizes have gone to three solid state physics researchers all born in UK: David J.Thouless, F.Duncan M.Haldane, J.Michael Kosterlitz "for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter". This notwithstanding the LIGO detection of gravitational waves, which was expected to be honored. |

Chemistry prizes are being announced. Jean-Pierre Sauvage,France, J.Fraser Stoddart, UK,Bernard L.Feringa, Nederlands, for their studies on molecular machines. UK has so far 4 Nobel prizes.Chapeau! LIGO results were published in February, while the Nobel deadline is January, this I was informed by a friend at CERN. |

The physic prize was gone to "for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter". That means that we have even more exotic matter than for instance dark matter to consider. And knowing that cinnemon buns doesn't have a hole but doughnuts have:) https://youtu.be/S_JS5dFBX4s Oh. Forgot that also to this new theory both 2 dimensional and even 1 dimensional objects exists in our 3 dimensional world... Mindgobbling... |
