Something has changed in my existing SETI@home and BOINC installation. I'm hearing SETI-related advisory messages (e.g., "Pulse triplet...." "SETI@home completed....") spoken by a female voice through my PC's audio channel. The messages are occasionally broken and choppy. I deleted BOINC and SETI@home and reinstalled both-- the problem persists. (Before anyone inquires whether I'm hearing voices from other software, please be assured that my aluminum-foil skullcap suppresses those<g>.) I'm running Windows 7, version 6.1, SP-1. I've looked for any voice-related settings in SETI@home and BOINC but cannot locate any setting relevant to the problem. I haven't tackled the Windows Registry as yet. Suggestions, please? Thanks in advance-- |

This is not anything that BOINC or SETI@home does (they don't have any audio ability) You obviously installed SETIspirit (which is made by totally different programmer not connected with BOINC or SETI@home; so you ARE "hearing voices from other software") http://www.setispirit.de/downloads.htm Switch Off voice in SETIspirit - there is icon at top-right of the main SETIspirit window. (or stop using SETIspirit if you don't like it, it is not any necessary for BOINC or SETI@home to work) Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
