I wanted to switch from Seti Classic to Boinc, so I installed the software, made an account and wanted to start crunching. But, I have nothing to crunch. The programm is not able to get any data from the server(s). So I switched back to the old and working Seti and I will keep using it until it is shutdown for good. Anybody else having the same experience? |

Instead of switching back to classic its very easy to swap projects. Why not try folding at http://predictor.scripps.edu/ They seem to have plenty of work units waiting Neil |

I started running Predictor yesterday & they are not without their problems over there too. Predictor doesn't seem to want to play nice with the HT Cpu's, they even have messages telling you to turn it off. I have experienced several weird things going on with my system while trying to run Predictor with HT enabled. Also if you close down the GUI Client you have to start the WU over again as it doesn't seem to have a check or save state implemented yet. But they are supposed to be working on it. As far as getting WU there doesn't seem to be any problem so far but from what I can tell theres not that many people over there running Predictor yet. I wonder how they would fair if 20,000 to 30,000 people all of a sudden jumped over there looking for work...??? |

I guess you would be right about problems showing up if large numbers of people jumped to Predictor however I would be prepared to live with that. The guys at Predictor would have no reason to expect a massive increase in users - the Seti guys had every reason to expect it. Neil |

I installed this thingie (just to see if the thing would work), the first message I got was "no work units".... first thing that went through my mind was "ohh, now I can wait 36+ hours like the rest of the users".... But after the 1 hour wait (it is too long!) I got 3 UW... Wwwwweeeeeeeeee But after closer inspection BOINC was only using 1 of the logical CPU's ??? (it is a HT CPU I use)... anybody seen this too ??? |

Hmmm, Ill see when it returns the one it is crunching now (if it will), perhaps it will start both logical CPU's then.. It is not a configuration on the computer (I'm running Distributed.net, SB, DHEP, they all can see and use the 2 logical CPU's) |

I have no problem getting either of my 2 HT PC's to run 2 at once...You also have to set it at the site to use 2 CPU's??? |

I thought I saw that all was cool with HTs now? Fixed with version 3.06 I believe. ========== Don't know if the HT issue is fixed or not Heff, The BOINC GUI seems to lock up on me after running for awhile. I can't even guess how many WU's I've had to dump to get it to work again ... I sure wish they would get the issue of having to start the WU over if you shut it down though. I need to reboot now & then because of software upgrades & I either have to wait until the WU is finished or just do it & start over again... |

I have restarted the computer 3 times after I installed the client, and every time it resumed the WU... but only 1 though :(' Yes the HT is enabled, as I wrote Distributed.net is using both logical CPU's |

Poorboy, Having problems with HT, are you running S@H or Predictor? I have processed some 12 WU's of S@H and had no problems using HT. Greetings from Belgium. |

Just hang in there and stop been negative with all programs there are always problems at the beginning to be ironed out and once this has been done the team at berkely or other developers can start on general improvements like functionallity any any other issues people have that they would like to see http://www.setiuk.com/start.php |

Ok, first UW done. When it finished uploading it, it said it started 1 UW (I had hoped for 2) task manager says it is using 50% of the CPU (1 logical CPU), but the UW started at 40% ????? |

The only reason their is so many problems is that they didn't think that they would be so much strain on the servers but luckily all seems to be working for the moment lets hope it stays that way http://www.setiuk.com/start.php |
