After reading Lord Guthrie's fears of an European Army yesterday, have to agree with him after seeing this (posted elsewhere)... So herr Steinmeier, just how & where would your "European Army" exercise? German Minister warns NATO Russia won't worry about NATO herr minister, but they do worry about a European Army with you in control, they remember or have you forgotten? Will German Forces be part of that European Army? If the need arose WILL they fight in combat amongst their European comrades considering their constitution prevents that? If the answer is no, THEN why should all the other EU nations pay for that European Army while the Jerries sit on their butts & dictate to Europe? |

After reading Lord Guthrie's fears of an European Army yesterday, have to agree with him after seeing this (posted elsewhere)... European Army? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocorps The number of "soldiers" are about 60,000 not 1,000 as stated in wikipedia. The army is more like a task force to target small entities then a defence army to protect Europe from an invasion from a hostile nation. NATO however, they do exercises in Europe. They do them in Estonia, Romania, Spain and Italy. Only Estonia and Romania are neighbouring countries to Russia. Russia do also exercises on their border to west. From the Arctic all the way down to the Black Sea. Russia's excercises include around 3 times more soldiers than NATO. The Russian Armed Forces have carried out more than 900 military exercises since January 2016. http://sputniknews.com/military/20160420/1038301242/russian-army-drills.html NATO has mostly defense excercises while Russia has invasion exercises including VDV troops and others. Now German FM Steinmeier has warned Nato against "warmongering", after it conducted military exercises in Eastern Europe. Doesn't make sense to me. Who are actually "warmongering"? Why didn't Steinmeier consulted German MoD or NATO before he make this really stupid statement? |

Unbelievable. A rare sensible comment from Clyde. So knowing that, why was the EU(Germany) adamant that they push Eastwards, effectively biting off the hand that feeds them? |

So knowing that, why was the EU(Germany) adamant that they push Eastwards, effectively biting off the hand that feeds them? The best way to have peace in Europe is trading. Putin: ‘EU is Russia’s friend; NATO is the problem’ https://www.rt.com/op-edge/347264-putin-eu-nato-russia-friend/ Jean-Claude Juncker has a dream. The European Union Commission President can see a future where a common European home stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to its Pacific counterpart. This weekend, he told The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that “for the European Union and Russia, the prize, one day, could be great: a vast region governed by the rule of law, trading freely and working together on common projects.†Halleluja. So why do we see Russia now building up their army and nuclear capacity on Russia's western front? If Russia Started a War in the Baltics, NATO Would Lose — Quickly. http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/02/03/if-russia-started-a-war-in-the-baltics-nato-would-lose-quickly/ http://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RR1253.html In a series of war games conducted between summer 2014 and spring 2015, RAND Arroyo Center examined the shape and probable outcome of a near-term Russian invasion of the Baltic states. The games' findings are unambiguous: As presently postured, NATO cannot successfully defend the territory of its most exposed members. |

After the clear leads for Leave that polls were showing a week ago, both of our polls published today show the race coming back to neck-and-neck again: a two point Leave lead in the Good Morning Britain poll, a one point Remain lead in the Sunday Times poll. https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/06/17/eu-referendum-remain-lead-one/ |

Regardless of which way it goes, it's a very big wake up call for the UK government as well as the EU parliament. |

Unusual for the BBC, a clear unbiased report of both sides, much better that the 2 campaigns with their scaremongering. What happens next? |

Unusual for the BBC, a clear unbiased report of both sides, much better that the 2 campaigns with their scaremongering. I noticed this. Scotland and Northern Ireland are in favour of the UK remaining in the EU. The SNP has warned that if the UK overall votes to leave the EU but Scots vote to remain, Scotland would be taken out of the EU "against its will" and this could be the trigger for another independence vote. Perhaps Scotland will leave the UK if Brexit. I don't know if Northern Ireland has the same ambitions. |

The real reason why Europe is scared of Britain leaving is in that link :-) "The idea would be to allow other EU leaders the time to realise they need a "friendly" trade deal with the UK to continue exporting their consumer goods into the British market without tariffs." If the result is OUT, no need for us to do any negotiating, they'll do it for us & pretty quickly at that, regardless of what herr Schauble says in a fit of temper :-) |

The real reason why Europe is scared of Britain leaving is in that link :-) The UK Sweden scholar Andrew Brown has written an article in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter today to explain the Brexit campaign. He ends. The best way to understand the campaign might not go as far back as 1956, but only until 1966, when Bob Dylan stopped singing easy-protest songs and started with something less coherent and more powerful: "How does it feel?" He roared. Weather report. https://twitter.com/MrHarryCole/status/744564180640989185?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw |

I was thinking of what happens next. Football don't come in to it crap game anyho ( F1 is so much better ;-) ) I don't think either side in the referendum have a clue what willl happen on Friday morning when the votes have been counted up and the results are anounced ( spose it will be just like a general election how it will happen ) Whatever way the vote goes we will have to live with it and only thing i'm fairly sure about is the result is going to be close maybe 47% / 53% either way . Way things are no one can say what the outcome is going to be Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

That's what many are predicting, a very close thing. If the vote is remain though, what has been said is that the reforms Britain asked for will be fast tracked. Will they be though that is the question. |

Will they be though that is the question. think they would have to honour what they said , if they did'nt the sh#te would hit the fan big style and could start the break up of the EU . Then again if the vote is to leave i wonder how many other country's will want to do the same and hold a referendum to stay / leave Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

Well as that report stated, it'll all be down to Article 50. The longer that is delayed, the better the opportunity for the whole of the EU to come to a genuine friendly trade agreement. |
