Costs are expensive in California, but then almost everything is imported into this 7th largest economy in the world. Years before at a Vet who might have retired by now the cost was $100.00. And I live in the least expensive area.

Well, if you ever really intend to get Grace chipped, let me know and I would be very happy to do some research and make some phone calls for you. I know it's an extra expense, and one always hopes that kitty will not escape. I know that I was beside myself many years ago when my dearly departed Squirrel kitty made her way out of the garage and headed to parts unknown for a few weeks.

Yeah, She's made two almost successful attempts, which is why I have to either where shoes when I open the exterior doors or be on My guard and tell Grace NO, She's very fast, especially for a large cat, She's no slouch when She wants to do something.

The escape artist in Her is strong with da force.

LOL...almost all kitties are like that. It is in their independent nature. Sure, they love their constant foodsie bowl and the occasional cuddle, but in the deep of the night they are all wishing they had thumbs......

WEST RIDGE — Eager residents got a first glimpse Saturday of the new multi-million dollar Tree House Humane Society cat shelter, slated to open next year.

People began showing up to the open house before its 4 p.m. start to catch a glimpse of the highly-anticipated facility at 7225 N. Western Ave. and participate in Tree House's annual Lights of Love event, which paid homage to beloved people and pets who have passed away.

The space will also offer Chicago's first cat café — a two-room lounge where potential adopters can get a cup of coffee before walking into a separate space containing cats, which has been one of the new shelter's biggest draws since first reported by DNAinfo in March 2015.

Yes. $150 is outrageous. I can have it done for $20. If a vet is charging too much, then you
might look into a local shelter. They might offer to do it for less.

I my area we have a few times each year where one vet or another will have a special day -
a vaccination day - where they will vaccinate pets at a discount. Sometimes this includes
microchipping.

$150 is certainly a rip-off. Since April all dogs in the UK have to be microchipped, fine of £500 if you don't. The normal cost with a vet is £15 but there are organisations and charities that do it cheaper, even free.

I am getting increasingly disturbed with the abuse of cats I have recently seen on youtube and other news sources.
For, with the abuse of such wonderful animals, so goes the humanity of our race.

No, I do not think you quite understand of my hate of those who would abuse a kind simple animal like a cat.
If I were ever in Africa, or someplace where the BIG cats roam, I would probably try to approach even them.
And perhaps perish in the process. But, if I had to choose a way to leave.........well. that might work.

The Maine Coon cat is my favorite./
I shall own or have one own me one day.

Lori has had several, one of which died tragically due to a genetic heart condition not too long ago.
These cats are large, and have the most gentle disposition of any cats I have ever known.
They can be huge, up to twenty five or more pounds, so be ready for a lotta love if they pounce on you.

They can be intimidating if you are not aware of them.....
Lori lost one of hers due to genetic heart problems, and this is not something most Maine Coon breeders are unaware of
They will terminate a breed if the problem becomes endemic.

We both miss her very much. and her brother does as well.
Leo, her brother, loved him very much, and misses her brother Ty Ty, in a very profound way.
I think he is somewhat fearful, because he does not quite understand why his brother went away.
I think he is afraid something similar is going to happen to him./.

I try to console him as much as I am able to.
He just does not understand why his brother is no longer there.
I wish I could explain to him that his brother had a heart attack, and there was nothing we could do for him,


Those of us who adore cats will know our pain.

I know only the pain I live with every day.
And it shows no signs of abating.
I know cats are in need of rescue ever single day by the thousands.
