I think the small garden birds would appreciate the removal of all cats from the UK.
Locally, and not scientific, when I moved in thirty odd years ago there were no cats and loads of little brown birds, but in the last couple of years at lest four cats have arrived and the number of garden birds has dropped dramatically.

Guinness World Records:
World’s oldest cat confirmed at almost 27 years old

Just before her 27th birthday, a British cat has been officially recognized as the oldest living cat.

Don’t let appearances fool you: Flossie might still be as beautiful and playful as a kitty, but she’s a senior lady.
At the nyan-tastic age of 26 years 316 days, roughly the feline equivalent of 120 human years, the record-breaking pet is in good health, although poorly sighted and deaf.

I have 4 cats here, one with a very unique name.

Merry Catmass all...

The new cat, BB or B/tch Boy, I didn't name him. He’s a bit shy, so don’t expect many pics of him.

Grace, the cat in charge... And a 62yr old holding her.

Sylvester, Grace's sleeping companion and heir...
The tv wasn't worth repairing and it's been disposed of by Burrtec the local waste hauler and e-waste disposer.

Chitty or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I didn't name this one either...

And Groucho the Boxer... Just to be completely fair...

Sylvester eating cooked turkey… Well he is a cat…
I almost choked on the turkey this time, I’m recovering.

Leftovers from Thanksgiving day for dinner on the 24th, we had dinner on the 23rd cause the person who cooked this was going to be busy on the 24th...

I’m lucky to be alive after sustaining ‘car crash injuries’ tripping over my cat
Disaster struck after the wrinkly kitty, apparently feeling playful, dove out and latched onto one of its owner’s legs while he was coming down the stairs.

“It took a bit of a chunk out my leg then I lost my footing,” described Rowley, who reportedly tumbled down 14 steps before arriving at the bottom, where he lay unable to move when his feline put the “hell” in Hello Kitty.

The “massively injured” man didn’t realize the extent of his injuries at the time. However, paramedics later revealed that he’d suffered “fractured skull, a broken bone in the neck, two fractures in the spine, nine broken ribs, and each rib has multiple fractures, and then I had a bit of blood in the lungs,” he said. Eric Morecambe, meanwhile, was completely unharmed.

Cat Missing for 3 Days Returns Home After Running Up a Debt
A chubby, grey tabby cat went missing in Thailand for three days.

However, when she returned home it was found out that she’d created some trouble.

While she was on her walkabout, she appeared to have accrued some debt – three mackerels to be exact!

On closer inspection, her human discovered that she was wearing a new collar that had a small placard hanging from it.

It was in fact a handwritten note on cardboard which read:

Your cat kept eyeing the mackerels at my stall, so I gave her three. Aunty May at alley number 2.”

Will Geer wanted to see more cats on The Waltons. Now, that's a statement we can get behind.

Geer never shied away from talking about The Waltons, he even had a few suggestions on how to make the series better. One of those suggestions, however, was not quite what we were expecting.

In a 1974 interview with The Herald, Geer raised an important question: "Why is there are no cats in The Waltons?"

"Never in my life have I ever seen a rural family that had a barn that didn't have some cats running around chasing after mice," he said. "Not one cat in The Waltons? Why is that anyway?".

Two dogs and a cat passed away. They were brought before God. God spoke to the German Shepard, and said "You were brave, loyal, and protected your family. You will sit on my right side." Then he spoke to the Doberman, "You were strong, ferocious, and saved your platoon. You will sit on my left side." Then he turned to the cat, and before he could say anything the cat interrupted and said "You are in my seat."

Cat Video Fest Returns To Music Box — And Adoptable Kittens Will Be There, Too

The Music Box is hosting the event the weekend of August 5-6, with part of the proceeds going to Red Door Animal Shelter.

In Cat Video Fest, theaters around the country showcase clips selected from countless hours of cat-related video submissions.

Cat-lovers submit more than 400 clips annually to be featured in a finished film, including music videos, animations and feline-related viral videos. The best submissions get compiled into the 75-minute film for all to watch.

Can cats at a crime scene help find key DNA evidence?
Pets at a crime scene may be helpful in gathering key evidence but rarely are they considered for their role in human DNA transfer.

For the first time, Flinders University forensic science researchers have examined the presence and transfer of human DNA on pets such as cats and dogs.

This research considers cats both as receptors and vectors for DNA of a person of interest—key evidence in criminal investigations.

"Cats in space"
NASA makes purrrr-fect deep space transmission of cat vid
Tabby footage crosses millions of miles and was still faster than most folks' home broadband

From the department of "what must the aliens think of us?" comes news that NASA has demonstrated its Deep Space Optical Communications experiment through the medium of a cat video.

The 15-second, ultra-high definition video of an orange tabby cat named Taters was sent back to Earth as part of the demonstration. It took 101 seconds for the video to reach Earth, with the system running at its maximum bit rate of 267 Mbps.

My oldest daughter lives alone now. She has two cats. They are sweethearts..

What a coincidence, I have 3 cats, 2 black and white, 1 orange, 1 cat has long hair sheds like there is an endless supply of her black and white fur.

They used to fight and there was some hissing, I added a 2nd litter box and all is very quiet now, and my bathroom is a bit more crowded too.

Two litter boxes, one black and one gray, the black and white cats like the gray one and the orange cat likes the black one.

The black box used to be automated, until the box broke, now it's scooped daily, asap I will buy a beige litter box to replace this one as this would be easier to see in by the cats.

My 3 at peace eating, now there is more peace and lots of quiet here.

Salinas cat travels over 1,000 miles back home after going missing in Yellowstone
The couple, said they have gone on many camping trips with their cats before. However, this trip to Yellowstone ended with one of their cats, named Rayne Beau, at the SPCA in Roseville, California.

After being startled, Rayne Beau ran off into the Yellowstone trees. The couple, worried for his safety, spent every day of their trip trying to find him.

They even laid out his favorite treats and toys in hopes he would find his way home, but by the end of their trip, they thought they may never see him again.

“We had to leave without him,” said Susanne Anguiano. “That was the hardest day because I felt like I was abandoning him.”

... Sixty days later, their hopes came true when they received a message from Pet Watch with Rayne Beau’s microchip identification and location.

He was in Roseville, California, at the local SPCA. The couple said a woman in the area found him alone in the street, realized he was someone’s pet, and turned him in.

... Still, the couple does not know how their cat, in two months, was able to get from Yellowstone to Roseville, which is over 800 miles away.
