Mississippi woman looking for cat finds 7-foot alligator in storm drain instead: ‘Name him Pennywise’

A woman in Pascagoula, Mississippi, hoping to locate her missing cat came across an estimated 7-foot gator lurking in a storm drain instead.

Brooque Snow told WLOX she and her stepdaughter were searching for the feline around their neighborhood. At one point, Snow said she decided to look down a storm drain.

“We looked inside and there was an alligator,” she told WLOX. “At first were like, 'Wait a minute...' so we took a second glance. Then I took out my phone took a picture and I told the neighbors.”

Taiwan man fined for sending cat in post (mail)

According to the UDN news website, a 33-year-old man surnamed Yang was fined NT$60,000 ($1,952; £1,522) this week, for violating the Taiwan Animal Protection Act, after he posted a Scottish fold cat in a sealed cardboard box to a local animal shelter in Banciao District.

He was also fined an additional NT$30,000 for violating the Statute for the Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Diseases, because staff at the centre found that the cat had not been vaccinated for rabies.

One of our girlies: (Mittens) seems to have had a huge falling out with her mum (Nutmeg). I've never not been able to soothe ruffled tempers and frayed egos before, but nothing I try and that's worked before, is :\\ and that's kind of what I'm hoping someone might have some ideas on?

She's going for her absolutely viciously :(( even when all Nutmeg's's done might be to find somewhere out of everybody's way to sleep, or if she's trying to use the litter tray, or eat and drink.

She's not been able to leave the lounge at all from what I can tell, all week :/ I've been providing for her needs in there, but when Nutmeg's feelings are really hurt, she's not above swiping at me. (Something Mittens never does - weirdly) )It's because she can and I'm there and I don't mind (and when she's like that, she reminds me of my sister when we were little :) anyway, and I like that) but I've been having to spend long hours out of the house for some time now and whatever happened between them I will never know but I can surmise that maybe a small spat escalated into something much more prolonged with no one there to calm and distract them, then restore mutual affection( or at least tolerance until it was achieved). And Nutmeg is not the most placid of pusscats. She will defend herself, but she doesn't hold grudges beyond an hour or so and only then if she's been physically hurt or threatened with hurt. Mittens on the other hand ... despite being teeny ( less than half the size of her mum, and only one fifth the size, if that, of her biggest brother) is a relentless, evil harridan when she's angered and she will mercilessly hunt/chase down her selected foe until they have nowhere left to run and then set to trying to tear them apart in a ball of shrieking fury that draws an audience of horrified dilated eyes and flattened ears that Mittens is not above attacking too. And that's when, people, all hell can break loose and does @~@

Tomorrow Today will again, be a day I have to be somewhere else from before it gets light, to probably long, long after it gets dark. I'm hoping I'll be home for the weekend though, every last second of it if I can be and might be able to implement a relationship rescue between them, so if anyone does have suggestions, they would be very gratefully received.

I don't think anybody on this board can help you with this.
Perhaps talking to a vet is better.
Anyway, it seems that Mittens and Nutmeg should be separated since they don't get along.
They will probably need to be separated for ever:(

Weird. Since I managed to broker a peace, (uneasy admittedly, at times) that's precisely where Mittens has been choosing to place herself while I sleep. I could ponder on that, but it's probably best I don't really :)

An update on the war now follows:
My strategy involved giving them each one of my jumpers to curl up on for the duration of my hours out of the house, and then wearing the "other's one"to give them some undivided loving attention in, each. Nutmeg was the most stand-offish initially at my other-furriness-ness, but would grudgingly warm in the end. I also deployed my slow-blinking technique on them both. I don't know if you know how calming cats find that. Anyway :) That paid off after two days with them both prepared to eat in the kitchen, at the same time with only the occasional stiff-legged slow stroll to a more distant bowl to the other.

Then I introduced group playtime, which at first neither would join in but just watch from their respective distances. Nutmeg was the first to crack with that :) and when I just happened to incidentally, drift the trailing ribbon closer and closer to Mittens, what was nice was that both girls had their eyes trained on it so completely that without realising what was up, ended up collaborating to get it off me :)

They're not prepared to cuddle up together like they used to when they were very fond of one another - not yet anyway - but there's been no fighting since I'm very happy to say... just that... that... sitting atop my hip thing... ;)

A mountain lion attacked a runner Monday afternoon on a trail in Horsetooth Mountain Open Space and the runner, who was bitten and injured, killed the big cat, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

The victim was running on West Ridge Trail “when he was attacked from behind,” according to a news release.

An ‘essentially frozen and unresponsive’ cat was found buried under a mountain of snow on Thursday, Jan. 31. Fluffy, the cat, has since made a miraculous recovery.
