Kitten Stuck In Sewer Pipe For An Entire Day Gets Rescued By Hero Plumbers

(Uptown Neighborhood - Chicago) — A kitten was rescued from a sewer pipe just in the nick of time thanks to a dedicated condo board and a group of plumbers.

The young kitten was stuck in the pipe for at least 10-½ hours Wednesday. He was saved only thanks to quick-thinking residents who heard its cries for help and called J. Blanton Plumbing, which sent workers over to break into the building’s pipes and save the cat.

“It was pretty special, pretty interesting in the life of a plumber,” said Jordan Blanton, one of the rescuers.

The kitten had been stuck in the sewer pipe of a condo building ... since at least 7 a.m., when residents sipping coffee on the roof first heard its meows for help, Blanton said.

... Just after the rescue, it started to rain in Chicago — something that could have flooded the pipe and killed the kitten if not for the rescuers.

A Wisconsin man is gaining national attention after a Facebook post about his work with felines at a sanctuary went viral this week.

Safe Haven pet sanctuary may be a shelter, but the felines who live there aren't orphans.

"I adopted all these cats here," Terry Lauerman, a volunteer cat brusher, said.

Woman says Grapevine police rescued her from this angry kitten stuck under her car

Grapevine police were part of an hour-long rescue of a very angry kitten from underneath a woman’s car on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, a woman said police rescued her from the “very angry feral kitten,” not the other way around.

According to Kimberly Dendy, whose post was shared on Grapevine police’s Facebook, someone else was trying to rescue the kitten when it got startled and ran underneath her own car.

At an excavation of a pharaoh's 4,500-year-old pyramid complex, Egyptian archaeologists discovered dozens of mummified cats — in addition to 100 ornate cat statues.

Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Dr. Khaled El-Enany announced the ancient cat artifacts on Nov. 10, and the Ministry took to Twitter to share images of the long-deceased felines, wrapped in ribbons of cloth.

Ancient Egyptians may not have worshiped their cats, but there's ample evidence that they viewed the small mammals as divine.

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A kitten that found itself perched atop a median on a busy highway in Missouri may very well owe its life to a concerned police officer.

North Kansas City police officer Jason Smith was patrolling Interstate 29 on Dec. 20 when he spotted the kitten on the concrete barrier in the middle of the roadway.

It was quite the predicament for the cat. Cars were speeding by in both directions.

Smith scooped up the little animal and brought it into his squad car. The kitten felt right at home there, even accidentally setting off the siren. Then, it settled into the officer's lap and got some cuddling.
