Message 1803797 - Posted: 20 Jul 2016, 20:49:08 UTC - in response to Message 1803789.

I had a cat stuck in a tree once. She ran up when dogs scared her but
couldn't get back down. I ended up taking my aluminum ladder and
putting it up against the tree, then raising it high enough for her
to get back down.

What fun.

I think most cats don't get stuck in trees. It's the humans who think
the cat is stuck. Just my opinion.

I think it's not as easy for cats as you might expect. I watched one of mine come down a tree once and it appeared to require a lot of effort and concentration. Not nearly as easy as for a squirrel.

Most people have noticed that squirrels can climb down trees head-first.

What you may not know is how they do it. Tree squirrels have ankle joints that are adapted to be super flexible. When a squirrel wants to climb down it can rotate its feet 180 degrees, dig its claws into the trunk and hang from its back legs.

In human terms this would mean that you could rotate your feet around till they were pointing backwards.

My kitties like to climb their 6 foot tall kitty tower.
Not sure I have ever seen them try to climb down.
Their usual mode of egress is to launch themselves from the tower to the waterbed. They have done this since they were little bitty kittens.

They make much bigger waves these days....LOL.

Grace doesn't climb, She jumps, the top there is 48 inches above the kitchen countertop, straight up...

I'm pretty sure it was teespring where I stole that graphic.

Here are several versions.

Some great ones for sure.
I am going to buy a couple.

My co-workers already think I am kitty nutzo because I meow at them all the time.
And ya know, some of them are now starting to meow back at me.

It is not unusual for them now to share a little kitty story with me from time to time. Or to ask how the kitties are doing at home.

It is rather refreshing to have somebody come up and say 'my kitty is doing well today, how are your's doing?

Various tales of kitty trials and tribulations I can now share with those I work with
I need one of those WWKD bracelets. 'What would kitty do?'

I believe that my dear Purrball kitty is not going to regain the use of her left eye. The drops that the vet gave her are not having an impact at all. The cloud in her eye has not diminished.

The vet and I both knew that it could be age related, as she's almost 15yo.
That would be about 80 human years, so it's not surprising.
Kitty cataracts.

But, she remains perky and bright, and even as I type this, she's come out meowing to greet me, tail twitching high. Purring so loudly you can hear her rumble. A very happy cat just to be with her Dad.
And that is a blessing indeed, for both of us.

And besides which, it is CATURDAY!

Grace lately is being a problem, She won't eat any dry food, I've wet it some, She sniffed at the food, that was that, I looked at Her water, lots there, found some dust floating, got rid of as much as I could, some is not white, the water is largely static, and not flowing, around the edge is a buildup of calcium carbonate, the water here has a hardness of 11. What's left I can't do much about, since Her bottle is nearly full of water and I'd not like spilling that, My countertop is underpinned by fiberboard, fiberboard first expands, then falls apart when water hits it.

She does eat Her canned food, just not Her dry food anymore...

Can you change her dry food? Can you give her bottled water?

There is water in canned cat food.

Change? Did that, didn't help, added some water to the dry food, not much better, I have 2-3 bags of the same dry cat food on the shelf(got those when She was eating the dry food), I did buy some new canned cat food, shredded chicken and salmon, 16 cans for $6.74(Food4Less), I may eventually switch Her to all canned, but not this month, that will have to wait until maybe January. It might be the heat or something, She is an 8yr old Black/White cat.

Sorry no bottled water, I can't afford that, I've got another $29.04 in the budget for food, which is for Me, that's on Friedday. Right now I'm cooling off, shopping is mostly done, bills are all paid...

I'm beat.

Have you checked her teeth/gums Vic? Just adding water to the dry food is not making it anymore attractive to her. Try mixing some of the dry food with the wet and so what she does.

I'll have to get back to you on Her teeth/gums, She went somewhere, possibly for a nap. I'll try that mixing on Tues.

Update: I can only see Her front teeth(fangs? the ones on the corners), I tried getting a better look by holding Her mouth open, but I got sharp claws for My trouble.

I had to resort to feeling Her lower jaw, She has teeth, and once again more claws...

I didn't think it would be easy, but you tried. Good luck on the mixing, let us know how that goes.

There is a cat hidden among these logs and you almost definitely won't find it, we're sorry
As is customary on the internet, a photo was posted to reddit in which something was hidden in plain sight.

This time, it was a cat hidden among stacked logs, as submitted by user jmankruse on the r/pics subreddit.

The cat blends in really rather well.

So here we present the briefest possible way to find the cat and end your frivolous curiosity.

Slide to reveal the cat

We were going to photoshop a log hidden among a pile of cats but that would have taken far too long.

Sorry about that.

Late one night She did eat some dry food, since I last posted here, I heard a distinct crunching sound.
I forgot about the mixing though.
