George Noury and Alex Jones are both drowning, but alas you can only save one. For the purpose of the exercise, which one will it be ?

I would have bet you'd call out the "false dilemma" or the inanity of this theoretical proposition, but of course you chose the gracious route, Gordon. +1.

I added Michael C. Keith's "Sounds in the Dark: All-Night Radio in American Life" to my TRQ, should be fascinating reading material.

“There’s no question that (...) talk radio features that characteristic of distrust and fear that is a part of the text of Coast to Coast—fear of the unknown, fear of invasion, fear of being taken over by some kind of evil force” (...) . “I think political talk radio is very much aware of the Coast to Coast phenomenon, and knows that if it pushes certain buttons, albeit with a political motif, it will also generate the right kind of response. All of this feeds paranoia, regardless of where it comes from.” But paranoia performs an important social function: it’s one way of ordering a disorderly world. Particularly a world in which the problems we face, from climate change to financial collapse to (...) terrorism, are of a newly existential order, and our options for action are cosmically ineffectual.

Recently I played a CD of The Seekers hits and I always admired the voice of Judith Durham.
So I had look on youtube for some Judith's work after she left The Seekers and what I found was truly remarkable.
Though I am not religous person, I found her renditions of hyms and gospel songs truely spine tingling.
One song that I find myself listening to several times a day is Precious Lord, Hold My Hand
This song is more remarkable is that she sings it without music and as someone said "When Judith sings the angels stop and listen".
.

Luigi!! It's you! It's lovely to see you back :)

I'm listening to the fan on the computer suddenly go nuts, unfortunately. Everything was quiet and peaceful until a new seti wu got underway I will suspend boinc and wait for things to calm down then give her a listen :)

@Pierre. It's absolutely AGES since I last listened to any Ah-ha. I will have to rectify that too.

It's an important fan, don't let it down ! In the meantime here's a soothing and calming one. You're welcome.

On the other hand, perhaps that work unit has hit the cosmic jackpot and, containing precious extraterrestrial technosignals, is making your hardware go haywire ? If so, please let us know if as the discoverer you're making the front pages.

Not so surprisingly they are ageing very well as this demonstrates (MTV live session) so yes come back for a while to your musical roots; one of the ways to stay forever young, Annie :)

I'm just listening to a selection that's randomly coming out from my jukebox's 15000+ play list.

Cheers.

I used to work in a hotel overnight, and the biggest request by far was a box fan for white noise at night.

How strange.... Now wondering how the white noise of fans, big and small, might have contributed to the attractiveness of SETI@home =:)

I'm listening to the winter wind howling outside.
I think winter winds (especially on endless plains or frozen lakes or rivers) is how eternity howls. Whenever I go up north in the depth of winter, this soon becomes a haunting spell, sometimes interrupted by the nocturnal howls of a wolves' pack on the trace of deers seeking refuge (not always successfully) near inabited cabins.

Perhaps seeking refuge myself in an anechoic chamber could be a way to temporarily escape the wolves' packs of the mind, has anyone here tried that ? =:)

Well I was listening to my jukebox again until the power went out.

Now I'm checking out what's on TV, but it's not looking good so far.

Cheers.

Schubert Ninth Symphony played by the Mozart Orchestra at Lugano LAC. Claudio Abbado founded the Mozart orchestra. He died on January 20 2014. I have seen on TV Victoria Mullova playing Bach on her violin besides Abbado's casket at his funeral service. They had a son, who is also a musician.

Country Roads is a very nice song.
But wait a minute. How did Willie Nelson find the Eiffel tower in West Virginia?
