Stressed Out, by Twenty One Pilots.

Hey look, someone mentioned Twenty One Pilots! But they stole the one I was going to mention. That's okay, there are plenty of others: Car Radio; Semisonic; House of Gold.
I bet "Du Hast" is the only song sung in German that ever became popular in the US. Okay, maybe you know of another but I don't.
Handel's Water Music is good. Pachelbel's Canon is my favorite, I used to have a recording with something like 10 or 15 versions of it called Pachelbel's Greatest Hit. Some were good, some stunk.
Soul Asylum "Runaway Train" video I saw for the first time a year ago, good song very sad video.
Herman's Hermits "Into Something Good"
Hansen "Mmmbop" sounds like the most cheerful song ever
Justin Bieber's new song is good, even though people prefer it wasn't. 8)
Butthole Surfers "Pepper"
AWOLNation "Sail"
Imagine Dragons Radioactive
Various things by Muse, Cage the Elephant, One Republic, a bunch of artists...

And just once in a while, those forced trailers on youtube find a place for real.
This was tossed at me, and I stuck around to find it quite wonderful.

Ryder and the Big Noise.
Dang, who is playing that wicked slide??????????????

She has some wicked arse musicians behind her on this one, and by the looks on her face.....she KNOWS it.
And appreciates them.
OH, my, since when do BASS players wear a slide? MEOW!!!
He gets it on, man.
And let me say this politely, without offending anybody.....OK?
I am not generally a fan of large women.
But this one has my full attention. (no, not THAT attention.....)

And like many other fine singers, it makes me melt when she gets down and growls into it. I always liked it when the do dirty///. Some can get away with it, some just sound like trash when they attempt it.
You have to be authentic to get away with that s..t. You cannot fake it.

And that mike she is singing in to??? Could it be?

I don't think it is a vintage Neumann, but a knock off. I am one of few who even knows and owns such things. Ribbon mike. Not available in any store, and few even show up on ebay these days.
They had such a warm sound, just short of a true tube powered microphone.
Yes, RCA made some, and I own several.
And nothing off of the performance, or the engineer on this cut, but she pegs it twice that I can hear. There is a sound that only one who knows can hear....but I suspect that the cut was just too good to edit. And I can appreciate that as well. Some things you just realize are too good to leave on the cutting room floor, even if they are nasty.

Sorry for the long winded post........but I do notice some things that others do not, due to my background. Vaughan Monroe was one who both needed enhancement, and also took full advantage of it. His recordings at RCA were never equaled, in part to his unique use of the mike he sang into.
I cannot prove it, but I am certain that it was a version of the tube powered Neumanns I later used in my studios. Only a few left in existence.
Lock and key stuff. I do not keep them on the premises. They are worth more than anything I own. And there are certain stipulations as to their disposition when I pass/. Most likely the Les Paul museum down in his home town../ We has some good times there. Oh, how I still miss that man.

The Neumanns had the tone without needing the tube warmth. I really don't believe that the producers of this clip understood that, and I believe that is just a standard studio Noomie, which works very well given her forceful performance.
It makes half the show for an old afficianado like myself who owned and appreciates such things. I am not sure it was intended.

Just freaking excellent.
Only 20k views so far, but I'll bet it goes to skyrocket status soon.

I would rate this as the #1 kittyman find of the year.
Oh, wow.

She pegs the mike twice.
I think so, I was not there.
Only such a powerful voice could do that. And she does possess such a voice.

She does it constantly on this cut.

A totally different version

Dunno what the engineer was thinking.
Except perhaps, just let the gurl sing..........
And I can understand that.
And I think I just answered my own question as to how and why it happened.

A retake would have erased the magic. I can see that now./
1/2 inch tape, traveling at 40 inches per second can reveal a lot of thingsb some would rather keep hidden. Imperfections are an art, you see.
That is what some of us would rather see preserved rather than hidden.

I am not here to tell you that I have some hidden unreleased takes of Janis.
I DO have some things that may come to light when I die.
This is covered in my living will, and may both delight and/or dissapoint some.

Nothing real magic there, except to myself.
Like the unopened copy of SRV's CD which only became special as I was driving though the fog that night and his damned pilot crashed into the mountainside which he certainly should have known about.......He took a great talent from us, and I shall never forgive him for it./

Sometimes you just do not take something magic that has occured in the studio just to make a technical correction.
I get that.....in spades.

This is as real as it gets.
This is a feed right from the pickups, not the house mike, at least at first.
The mixer must have fallen asleep when the set started.
Bernard Allison.

Yes, I do find some rather intersting stuff.
Enjoy. When he gets wound up....oh, my.

Even Tigger is diggin' it....LOL.
She is just sitting here staring at him.
No dust left on HIS broom, indeed.
And meow.
