BrainiStemsi - medical jargonese for that bit of our brain we rarely credit for how brilliant it is at keeping us alive and whatnot

BasisMintier - (pronounced baah-cease manty-ee-ehrrrr) derived from the French and meaning to make a fresh start in a social gathering, sometimes with brushed teeth, but always only after the spinach you had adhering to them has been removed.

Antibrimssie - well-meaning pessimistic sect determined to rid the world of all notions pertaining to glasses being half-full (as opposed to half empty) in case people lose all rationality and think their glass has a chance of being full, which is when spills are at their most calamitous.

SiteBinarism - boinc phenomenon where posters wander between two project message boards

IambistsRein - the restraint that this: a metrical foot consisting of one short syllable followed by one long syllable or of one unstressed syllable followed by one stressed syllable - puts on those who like their writing to make DAdum DAdum noises in people's heads. Can also refer to the straitjacket a reader, or indeed a writer, might occasionally need when a work goes DAclunk - DOOFDOOF-eekaBOOOM in their heads instead.

Initiabrmsse - not sure which meaning you want for this one, David... the onomatopoeic one indicating the noise that immediately follows ignition of an internal combustion engine? Or the logoleptic one referring to running out of vowels towards the end of an unjumbling attempting, so lumping the remaining consonants together in a cluster towards the end? That I just so happened to have the correct letters to do just that leaves me thinking that that is in fact the one you want, and that I have solved this jumble, so YAY! :) It would just be too much of a coincidence to think otherwise, don't you think?

oh...and did we say we like humans too? Well we do :)

I am quite familiar with the last three of those. Coincidentally or not, I often use that last one as my own approach to these things. Also coincidentally or not, you totally struck out on the last two.

In the order you posted them,
2 right, nothing else worth saying
3 right, not all together, strong finish
3 right, no 2 together
2 right, together, placed in a manner that has been noted as a clue in other recent words
0 right, but 5 together in the wrong place
0 right, just totally nothing at all worth saying about this mess

There is one particular letter that you got right three times, which would be four times if the group of five was right.

Oh... well if you're sure none of those were what you were looking for...?

I haven't had time to analyse your analysis yet, but I shall do so in a bit... trying to get rid of a rather persistent internet site that didn't take closing its window for what it was... that I didn't want their services... :/

Well... the only group of five that fits within my exclusion matrix is Ambis (at the front) and because I think it has to finish with an er at the end I got left with these -> itsin ...

So I faffed about to get ambistiniser and lobbed it into a search engine.

Apparently *astonished blink at setizens* it's not a word!!??

Just as I was absorbing the shock that it wasn't a kind of sprayey thing that could be used in either hand, my eyes must have strayed a bit, and I found ambisinister staring at me - which means clumsy or unskillful with both hands...

I've now decided I really like that word a lot! :) I'm going to make use of it a great deal from now on I really really am!

Could it be the one you're looking for, David?

It could be and indeed it is. Somehow, I knew you would like it, too.

I will leave you to post the next word and take myself to bed, where I will not wonder why you're up at the hour you are where you are.

I wonder that a lot too :/ Anyway... hope you slept well! :)

Thought it best I post this now, just in case my ambisinistering has exceeded even my expectations and my fingers get too fat to do anything... y-e-e-e-s... not sure what I've touched but whatever it was, my hands appear to have not liked it at all, no... and the antihistimine I took to make it go away, didn't.

Here we are...

HHIKNOOPRRSY

Has absolutely no letters in the correct position which should help you a lot I reckon... as will this...

...or possibly not... I don't know...

HHIKNOOPRRSY

Hmm. Not a lot of vowels to work with, and the Y doesn't go at the end. Also the 2nd letter is not H.

And of course today I didn't bring my notepad over from my desk to the other one where I work in the afternoon.

That is a camel, yes? I'm just making sure it's not a llama or a tauntaun.

PYROKINHOSHR
PYRORHINOHKS

Not sure what either of them has to do with a camel, llama, or tauntaun.

(Do all camels have that ugly thing sticking out of the side of their nose? Looks like some sort of alien mind control bug from Star Trek.)

Yes.

It is a camel - of the dromedary kind I think.

And I don't like the nose thingy either :( but it seems working camels can't be fitted with a bit and bridle to lead them around like we do to horses, due to them noshing away on cud all day and needing their mouths for that. Yes. Like we do. After considerable subduing and being dragged back from the nearest horizon, I suppose if I was still allowed to choose between a bit or a nostril peg - for a prolonged doughnut chomp...

... for example, I'd go for the latter too.

I wonder if that's why they spit at us? I thought it was because we're inferiorly-hoofed creatures but I've been known to be wrong once before

:)

Okay... let's have a loo-... oh dear... *contemplate David for several long centuries* I see you initiabrmssed some garbage there, David. How nice.

PYROKINHOSHR - what I have to say here, I'm going to say there *point to there*

PYRORHINOHKS: W-e-ell... after duplicating the same correct letter you had in your first word, you then went on to end singularly very well here, David. Yes! And in between all that, you strung five together superbly well *impressed blink* :)

Except they're in completely the wrong place

*pause to look down nose at you*

... although you did manage to get one of the five in the correct place in your first word, which also brought your total correct for that one to two too.

Also, if it helps at all, out of the three pairs of duplicate letters in the original jumble, one pair needs to remain inseparable to be correct, just not there where they're there but elsewhere... you know... than where they are.

oh...and did we say we like humans too? Well we do :)

Okay, for starters, I definitely know these things that are either definite or possible.

PYRO----O--S

Now, for the group of five. I'm thinking that's probably the RHINO. However, I can't put it at the beginning because I know the HI don't go there.

As for the double pair, OO or RR is much more likely than HH, but it's hard to make either of them work with the RHINO.

KYPHORRHINOS - two or more of a large water-loving animal that initiabrmssed at the beginning of itself instead of the end, and only accidentally placed one of its letters in the same place as in the first guess after deliberately placing one thusly

[edit]
I tried out that word (minus the S) at dictionary.reference.com and it asked me if I meant gophers. This after realizing that asking oed.com is not as simple at home as it is at work, because all the computers at work are preloaded with our account for that site, whereas I don't have that at home.

Oh very well done!! Your definition may be a little erroneous, although I much prefer it to what they say second from the bottom, here, or was it third... I can't remember now

Or 5th from bottom here where the definition is simply: humped nose. Yes. Hence the camel and the elephant seal :)

Your turn!!

Do I need to PM you? Let's wait and see shall we...

It's actually a word I've heard of before, although I can't say I've ever worked it into conversation. I have not embellished it at all.

*gaze at David with new level of respect* THAT'S a word you've heard of before? I suspect it's one that would have shot straight out of my head as soon as it entered it.

I expect you've heard of these too? One will be what you're looking for I'm sure.

Andeviliaunt - hairy female relative hailing from mountainous regions that are not limited to the Andes

UninvitedLaa - word describing the moment in a sing-a-long where the lyrics turn blank in your head and you resort to la la la la-ing along instead

Uninvalidate - another way of saying that you've re-validated something.

Antidinvalue - a school of thought that dismisses the merits of making a racket in certain situations - like, for example: scaring off a lunch attack from a lion by accompanying wildly waving arms with your own roaring charge directly at it, instead of running away midst only mild eeking... the latter being a good tactic only when in the company of another antidinvaluean who is not as fast on the hoof as you yourself are.

There we go :) No rush.

Please tell me you don't have personal experience with that last one.

Anyway...

5 with two pairs
3 unremarkable
2 even less remarkable
a group of six with five of them right

On the other hand, you only landed in the last five letters once in the four tries.

There is one letter that both of you have gotten very frequently, but seemingly at random. Actually, there are two such. Not together.

antideviluan then, No.

antivilduean!

They all mean you're against something by the way... in case you're wondering.

It could be being before something like ante I suppose... although is that what it means with antelope? There we go people... that bouncy springy thing over there that eats grass, is in fact an antelope prelope, until after it's had a run, when it's called a postlope *turn to look at setizens* it's THAT kind of information they leave out of books.

Ok... so if it's: antedi that leaves LNAIUV and lots of bells

antedilnaiuv - which is of course the evolutionary trigger in the nose of the

gerenuk - which caused their necks to lengthen in response to sneezing whenever they encountered dill
