How bad is it getting? This bad...... If Berkeley, the bastion of 'free speach' succumbs to this idiocy, I guess I am outta here like a cold turd. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Aren't propaganda videos fun? Let's create a video that looks authoritative, create the illusion that there's an attack on Free Speech, but let's not tell anyone why, in those specific cases we mention, those people were prevented from spreading their hate filled rants, and dress it up as "freedom from speech we don't like". |

So................you dismiss it entirely? The limitations on speeches on campus are bogus? Nothing is off limits then? I suggest you canvass some recent graduates and get their opinion on this. I dismiss what this guy is saying because I'm aware of the filth the people he's mentioned whom were prevented from speaking out publicly to spread their hateful ideas. The limitations on speeches on campus are bogus? No, there are limitations on free speech, and have been for quite some time now. Just as you can't shout "FIRE!" in a movie theatre to incite panic. You can be held accountable for that. The people who were prevented from speaking publicly, wanted to spread hate. Nothing is off limits then? I don't think it's all-encompassing as you think it is. Each issue should be taken on a case-by-case basis. |

Oh come on now.... The old 'shouting fire' bit is getting rather threadworn. The editorial had some more significant points about certain issues that the campus said were off limits. Oh come on now.... But still incredibly pertinent, and those that refuse to heed the understanding obviously need to be reminded. The editorial had some more significant points about certain issues that the campus said were off limits. And I already said those points made in the video were propaganda designed to make it look like there's an attack on Free Speech, when in fact there isn't. Those people who wanted to speak their ideas wanted to spread hate and dissention for specific groups of people. We've had enough of that already, we don't need more. |

At least I have one to pick. The same can't be said about you. He doesn't care. If I didn't care, I wouldn't bother to respond. |

Oh come on now.... Now you have put yourself in a wormhole, my friend. You have just put yourself in the position of playing God. Per se..."We've had enough of that already, we don't need more." You have passed judgement. You have made a statement of opinion and made a decision. You on the Berkeley board by any chance???? "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Now you have put yourself in a wormhole, my friend. I would have to believe in God in order to believe there's a specific role of God to play. Per se..."We've had enough of that already, we don't need more." You make it sound like judgment is a bad thing. We all do it, even you. In fact, these very posts to me are your way of judging my opinions and disagreeing with them. You have made a statement of opinion and made a decision. Why yes, I have. As have you. Your statement of opinion and decision is that these people should be allowed to spread their hate. You on the Berkeley board by any chance???? Truly, I'm flattered. Can I use you as a reference when I apply? |

You on the Berkeley board by any chance???? Excellent! Two references in one night! |

You on the Berkeley board by any chance???? Mark, please don't fall for CLYDE's "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" attempts. He's only engaging you while putting me down in an effort to gain proponents to his asinine posts. |

LOL, you may. And no doubt they have heard of me. Not sure that would put you in the best light tho....LOL. I think you might leave me off of your best reference page. Or maybe the fact that you have sparred with me and survived it may prove to be a good thing. Not sure, my friend. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

You on the Berkeley board by any chance???? I am aware of Clyde's antics. Even I usually have something to say other than circular logic, even if others do not agree with me. I spit it out and then let the fire burn. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Mark, I've been posting on these forums as long as you have. We have a history together, which wasn't always unpleasant. When I first saw you posting in number crunching, talking about your amazing overclocking speeds and helping others to do the same, I was quite impressed with you. Sadly, and you may not want to hear this, I've seen you go straight downhill for quite some time now. It is quite sad to see and I can only stand by, watching as a bystander wishing I could help. |

Oh, it's not such a sorry slide as you describe. I am getting older, and my little bits of brain chemistry are fighting me more than they used to.........and this is general body chemistry, not anything to do with alcohol. I have good days and bad days. I look at my kitty tile and smile a bit more than I have in a while. I still am the same man I was 15 years ago when I first joined the project, just a bit hardened since then. Life has a way of doing that to a man, my friend. Ozz, can I ask you a question? Do I recall a PM saying I was dead to you some years back? If so, I thank you for recanting and having a bit of conversation with me, even if we disagree on some points. I do thank you for that much. Mark "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Oh, it's not such a sorry slide as you describe. I would imagine the alcohol doesn't help one bit.. probably makes the problem worse. As much as I see you drinking, probably much worse. But good to hear not all your days are bad. Don't give up the good fight, sir. Keep trying for more good days than bad, and life will smile back upon you. Always ask yourself how you can make each day better than the last. That's what I try to do. |

Spend some time on campuses and find out if its real. Myself, on campuses where I've studied (and taught as a GTA) or just taught, I've done imitations of Reagan, Bush and Clinton for years and a minor imitation of Obama more recently. (Putting my hand out, pointing my index finger left, saying "We're ... uhhh ... gonna move this country ... uhhh, forward.") Since people have wondered with each new President if now the Anti-Christ has arrived, I say, "The Anti-Christ is supposed to be charming, but Obama says 'uhhh' too much and his suit jacket buttons clack on the podium, so he can't be the Anti-Christ." Still not called before the university President, Provost or whatever. |
