Made some beef stew tonight.
Used a pound and a quarter of beef cut into small pieces.
4 cans of mixed vegetables
3/4 of a onion diced
2 pieces of celery diced
Beef boillion to taste
Lawery seasoning salt to taste

I put the beef chunks in a pot with some water and beef boillion to boil cook. I did not cover the beef completely. I let the beef cook for about 45 minutes until tender adding water and boillion as needed to keep a good boil..
Then added the vegetables and water. Seasoned the stew to taste and let boil for another 30 to 45 minutes until I thought it was done.
And if you are wondering. The beef was close to falling apart tender.

Don't try this at home!
Yesterday a woman next door heated oil in a pan and forgot about it and the oil took fire.
The woman then tried to extinguish the fire with water!
Big explosion and she got seriously hurt and was taken to hospital.

Fire safety...

IF you have a proper extinguisher AND are trained in it's use....
It is then OK to attempt to put out the fire.
If neither of the above applies, call the fire department FIRST.

I make a living building fire trucks. And I hear stories all the time from first responders visiting our facility. Many sad tails about people who did not call them first and then made things worse because they attempted to take things into their own hands.

Burning oil and water do NOT mix well.
Of course, one's immediate reaction is to try to do something about it. But you have to step back and consider the result of a failed attempt./
Please call those who are well trained in dealing with it.
One of my trucks will be there shortly with trained professionals that can take care of it safely.

My life's work is to build fire trucks. It is estimated that every truck I have a hand in building WILL one day, save a life or two or more. And maybe a kitty or two.
And I believe that to be true indeed.

Any time I hear one racing to a call, I consider that I, personally, may have helped save a life.

And ya never know, one day my own life might be spared by one that I had a hand in putting together. A wonderful profession to be in.

Understand you completely. I help make anesthesia breathe gas bags where I work. I have had the pleasure of needing one. And the boss always says. "Every bag is someone's life."

What are your favorite seasonings?

I absolutely love garlic. I love the smell of it, too. I also like the taste
of black pepper on many foods.

As every fire truck is someone's life at hand.
And every firefighter is somebody's saviour.

The best tshirt at work is....
'Where others flee, I boldly walk in.'

Such is the creed of a fireman.

We have only a few moments in which we can either save a life or give it up.
Life is determined in those few moments. And what is done in those few seconds of choice make the difference between life and death for some.
And I choose to make that difference.

About seasoning.
Here we eat herrings that are very much seasoned.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soused_herring
Sugar, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and often sandalwood.
Along with potatoes, sour cream and chives it's a traditional Swedish midsummer meal.

Who knows:)
Italian style meatballs are called Frikadeller.
Here it's called Meat Balls.
No difference really but italians often prefer veal instead of ground beef.

Actually I thought that every country has meat balls as a dish.
I ate horse meat balls in Marrocko once together with cous cous.
It was very nice.

Why........

Why whenever someone mentions "meat balls" does my brain do a sideways step to "Prairie Oysters"?

All covered with cheesy snow. ;)

Seriously I like spaghetti and I have just enough meat and sauce left for another batch.

I like it, too. When I was a kid, we always had spaghetti on Sundays for lunch, and I really looked forward to that.

It's an easy meal to make, for the spaghetti I used a 10-15qt pan, the meat a 3qt baking dish with a glass lid, since cook the meat in the microwave, then use a collander to drain the spaghetti and then the meat, I dump both in the big pan, then add a couple jads of sauce, stir well, and serve with grated Stater Bros parmesan cheese.

the microwave

My mother never bought a microwave and neither did I. There's really no place to put it in her kitchen, and we've never been in that much a hurry to get something cooked.
