Do you like tartar sauce, Vic? I like that better than ketchup on my fish sticks. Sometimes I put malt vinegar on my fish, too.

I don't have any tartar sauce, I like both, as to better than ketchup, neither is better to Me. Both provide extra calories,
mustard would be better in that case, no I've not tried that, though yellow mustard has zero calories.

Black pepper and Lemon juice is quite good.

I made a pot of homemade chili that tasted better than any other chili I've made previously. When I make chili I buy certain ingredients, but I don't pay much attention to who makes the product or exactly what's in the can. This time I used light red kidney beans instead of dark red (four cans), Great Value brand. (I always drain the beans before I use them in the chili.) Instead of "Mexican style" stewed tomatoes I used Great Value brand (Walmart) fire roasted diced tomatoes with seasonings (three cans). I used the Great Value brand mild chili seasoning packet - two packets. And I used lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10, I forget). I don't drain the fat off of the meat. This amount of chili feeds me for several days. Usually I'll get tired of the chili after a few days and some will end up going in the trash, but not this time. It's just real good! (I added salt - more than what's healthy!)

I make big pots of chili and other things when I start to run out of money!

Excellent video, Admiral! As you know, the Scotch egg is one of my favorite things in life, but I've never made one at home. I prefer a harder boil than his, though. His method of peeling the egg reminds me of a device called an Eggstractor I bought many moons ago and demonstrated here -

one of My friends had Sushi, said I could have a few, I had ordered a bowl of fried salmon and rice, so I had2 pieces of sushi. Though I did not have any wasabi or Japanese horseradish that is the green paste, I just had two rolls like the ones with the orange center

Did you like it? I tried sushi a long time ago, back around 1996, and I didn't care for it, and have never tried it again.

Yummie:)
I see shrimps, tuna, salmon, fish roe, and some other white fish .
Some of them wrapped in Nori.
Served with pickled ginger, sliced leek and some wasabi.
Missing sesame seeds though.

Ya know, I've done that -- frozen containers of left over chili. Then I end up ignoring them for a very long time and then throwing them away. :-(

As it is less than a week until Thanksgiving this might be of interest, on safety grounds, for our US cousins, rather than lynn's thread Ebola and Infectious diseases, Food and Drugs, Recalls #5

Salmonella contamination in turkey is widespread and unidentified as Thanksgiving approaches

Yes, it's unappetizing to look at naked, but I tried one the other day, and I have to admit, I liked it.

I made a chile relleno casserole last night that was fantastic. I was afraid it would be too runny but it wasn't. This is a comfort food from my childhood. We lived in Santa Clara, California, and there were a lot of Latino people in the area. My mom apparently got some good recipes from the women she worked with. She would make chile rellenos. They're a lot of work, so when I found the recipe for the casserole, I tried it.

The only change I'd make is to dry the chiles a little bit using paper towels.

I used monterey jack cheese. That's what mom used.

Oh, the can of chiles that I used was more than 8 oz. It was actually 27 oz! This made two layers of chiles. If you use a 9" x 12" pan, as the recipe says, there's no way 8 oz. will be enough chiles.

Recipe - PDF format.
This is a very mild dish. Not spicy at all.
