Oh and I do have the benefit of a cooking merit badge, among others, and at least I do know how to cook, unlike My Dad's generation, He even asked Me how to wash dishes.

I use Wax paper so I dont have to clean the owen.
Wax paper is more functional than plastic wrap which will melt at lower temperatures, or aluminium foil which is not safe for use in most microwave ovens.

What you call wax paper may be what we call parchment paper over here. Wax paper, in our country, is thin paper coated with wax. I use it in between layers of baked cookies, for storage. If you put American waxed paper in the oven it will melt and even ignite.

Sweet potato fries: I used to eat them as an alternative to regular fries. I don't any more.

Chicken fries: nothing special, just elongated nuggets.

I think there must be something wrong with my tongue. Everyone keeps saying sweet potatoes and carrots and peas and other things are sweet. To me, they are not. No matter how they are prepared, they always taste bleah at best and more often bitter. I don't eat veggies because I like them, I try to slip them past my tongue as quickly as possible to minimize the bad taste, because I know I need them.

Eric dislikes cooked orange foods such as cooked carrots and cooked sweet potatoes. He will eat raw carrots and raw orange peppers. I think he may be especially sensitive to the taste of beta carotene and the cooking process makes those compounds more detectable. Perhaps there are compounds in some vegetables that you are particularly sensitive to?

Are there any vegetables you like raw that you do not like cooked?

It's not just orange, it's pretty much everything. I actually used to at least tolerate carrots, but not so much anymore. Dripping with butter, maybe.

Lettuce tends to get kind of gross cooked. And in small quantities it has no nutritional value, either positive or negative.

I grew green bell peppers in the Garden I'd cleared in the backyard(I'd grown beefsteak tomatoes too, with corn & yellow crookneck squash), Mom would hollow them out and stuff them with what amounted to meatloaf, tasted fine to Me, I also like them on pizza, I at first didn't like black olives, but I got used to them, I think some veggies are an acquired taste, I was fed veggies when I was a child, I knew I liked meat a bit better, that could be the Neandertal genes at work there or maybe not, the jury is still out on the Neandertal genes, not whether some have people have them or not, but as to what they do, if anything that is.

I do miss the Soupersalad restaurant. 75 feet of cold salad buffet. Everything one could want on a salad plate. I have made many a monster salads. Then the smaller soup and potato buffet. Your choice of regular or sweet potato wrapped in foil. Six different soups that changed depending on what day it was. Cornbread, gingerbread and blueberry muffin. I'll skip the pizza and soft bread sticks. I just wish it did not go out of business at that location.

Many moons ago, there used to be a Rax restaurant here that had a crazy salad bar, and it was reasonably priced, too.

I love salad bars, but I stay away from the stuff with sauce, anything wet, as most charge by weight.
