point of joining a team?

(How you can have a team of one is beyond me.) Some teams are multi-national, drawing from all over the World with some common aim or focus, be it a wild animal (like the Raccoon Lovers), or the use of particular hardware (like the GPUUG). For a few years I didn't want to join a team, but then someone I know started one, and I joined it almost as soon as it was formed. I've stayed because of the friendly rivalry, and banter....
