Damn, hypnotists to make one eat? Is there any out there that can cause weight gain? :-) Sirius, Are you sure you've got the right link? I see an article about an Alzheiners drug. As my father died of this terrible disease, I initially took offence at your comments. Happy Crunching, Graham |

"Sirius, Are you sure you've got the right link? I see an article about an Alzheiners drug. As my father died of this terrible disease, I initially took offence at your comments." With all these "so-called" reforms happening in the world, I believe there is one important reform that should be initiated immediately & that is the Hippocratic oath. I'm sorry if you took offence, however, political correctness has gone too far. It will not be long before Orwell's "Thought Police" actually comes true. You're father was the only one that died of a serious illness on this planet? Let me tell you a story... June 16th 1997, my mother had a serious operation which thankfully was successful. However, the surgeons botched the finish by not sewing her up correctly. 20 days later, she died. That last week of her life was terrible for all concerned. By not sewing her up correctly, septicaemia set in & during that last week, she went 8 times, yet every time they brought her back. Why? The surgeon himself informed us that it had reached the brain. To see a human being suffer that... ...8 years later, my father had an accident - a very serious head injury. By the time the ambulance got there it was too late. It took them 31 minutes by which time the brain had been starved of oxygen for too long. Later that evening, the doctor entering the waiting room where the family had gathered & asked us all a question: He had gone several times but again, brought back. Not one member of the family spoke to me (being the eldest & dad had made no will - not a problem as mum had covered practically everything in hers). I asked the doctor if I was correct in saying that he had been without oxygen for too long & if he recovered sufficiently, he would be a vegetable - the reply was yes. My answer which did not go down too well with other family members but at the same time were not prepared to look after their own father, was to let him go. At 74 he had done a good job of raising his family & being a very active man, would not have appreciated having his every need done for him. He passed away at 19:01 that evening. There have been many reports of others suffering & wishing to have peace but find the law too strict. We all die eventually, but the quote "No matter what one says, there is always someone that takes offence" is absolutely true. Having a laugh & joke now & again helps one to stand tall. Instead of thinking of what I've posted (even though the memories of them will probably not fade away by the time I pass on), thinking of all the good times helps those jokes & laughs. |

Answered in "it is time" thread. Sirius, I don't read the politics thread, as I consider it outside the scope of these forums, and too contentious. Also I still think you may have the wrong link as it doesn't seem to tie up with your title or comments.... Happy Crunching, Graham |

Alfred Hitchcock is odds on favorite to be the face of new 20 pound bill Earlier this year, the Bank of England announced that a creative figure will replace economist Adam Smith on the £20 note by the year 2020. Unlike the U.S. Treasury, the Bank of England swaps faces on their money rather often. Winston Churchill and Jane Austen are slated to appear on the £5 note and £10 note in the next couple years, respectively. |
