Baseball team makes stray puppy an official bat dog

A baseball team in Savannah Georgia is making headlines after naming an abandoned puppy it’s “bat dog” for the season.

According to the Savannah Bananas website, a staff member found the 7-week-old puppy crying in the parking lot two weeks ago. She had no tags, collar or microchip.

The team’s president and his wife have since adopted the puppy and named her Daisy. They hope to train her to retrieve balls or pick up bats during home games.

“We aren’t sure how big she’ll get, so it’s hard to say if she’ll be able to pick up a bat or just coach first base,” said President Jerry Orton. “But as she grows, she’ll be a fixture at the ballpark.”

For now, Daisy goes to the team office daily to interact with players and visitors.

Its always good to hear of a rescue and I hope she will have a long and happy life.

The only thing to remember is that there is a lot more out there looking for good homes.

Lets try again

This is Gwen

I just could not get on with her name so she is now called Lady.

Lady is now settling in nicely with Toby and myself.

I like the name Lady. She is such a lucky girl to have a great owner.

She is ladylike, approaches people and other dogs gently and quietly and waits to be fussed, she has poise and refinement.

Not like Toby, he is like a bull in a china shop.

Seen this commercial earlier this evening... Hilarious!
If you asked me the "focus point" of the ad is the dreaming dog, not the car.

This Restaurant Offers a Menu For Dogs.

Hamberg says. "At the moment we just allow dogs. But who knows—in the future we might build restaurants just for animals."
No word yet on how cats, fish, gerbils, or the like will fit into this furry future business venture.

Our dog Tosca have to listen to the song "Black Dog".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtN8oBjMr_E
The song's title is a reference to a nameless, black Labrador Retriever that wandered around the Headley Grange studios during recording.[8][9] The retriever, despite his advanced age, was still sexually adventurous, like the song's protagonist who reiterates his desperate desire for a woman's love and the happiness it provides.

Where Did Dogs Come From? There May Be Two Answers.

Scientists have done well in scouring the DNA of humans to track our origins to the African continent.

But the ancient origins of an animal that is an honorary member of many human families has remained in doubt: We still don’t know where dogs came from.

A group of scientists who are in the middle of a grand examination of canine fossils and modern DNA proposed Thursday to turn the whole conversation on its head.

There is a growing body of evidence that Donald Trump doesn't actually know what a dog is.
Well, dogs knows what the Donald is.

Bow wow beer? British company brews up beer for dogs
You’ve been working all day, and you’re finally home. Time to kick off your shoes, fall into your Barcalounger, turn on the ballgame and share a few cold ones with your bud — except your bud has four legs, a wet nose and a wagging tail, and the veterinarian has laid down the law: No brewskis for Bowser.

Well, those dark days are over. At long last, there’s a beer for dogs. Sort of.

For three years, a British company called Woof & Brew has been producing a range of teas, tea-infused biscuits and tonics for man’s best friend.

But tea is for Foo-Foo the Shih Tzu. Fido wants a longneck.

So now Woof & Brew is expanding its line, adding a "beer" for dogs it calls – wait for it – Bottom Sniffer.

Maybe I should end this post with a joke about a dog in a bar... No, I'll save that for another cafe thread sometime.
