My latest mutt Toby is accident prone.

He managed to get me a couple of days ago.

I had come home from work, let both of them out for a toilet then gave them breakfast, both of them settled down for a while.

Then Toby wanted to go out so I opened the back door.

On the way out he trod on the edge of the water bowl and sent 3 or 4 pints of water across the kitchen floor (lino).

I started to grab for a large towel when he barked as he went out the back door, I yelled at him, It was 5am and I did not want too many of the neighbors woken up.

Knowing that he had done wrong he turned round and ran back indoors, it seems to be a normal reaction that he has picked up from one of his previous owners.

As soon as he got on the wet lino he tried to stop but he just slid straight across the kitchen floor, straight through me and carried on sliding.

I ended up flat on the floor in the middle of the puddle of water.....

No real harm done, a dented pride and a couple of bruises, as it was not realy his fault, well he had not done it deliberately, he did not get told off.

8st of GSD is not easily stopped.

Thank you for saving a puppies life! A lot of breeders will not keep a non-breeding pup and sadly, have it euthanized instead.

As we were talking about our decision this morning, a friend showed uo on our front door. We were all in the living room sitting on the couch when all of us-at the same time-heard a collar in Abby & Izzy's old chair they used to sit on. Nothing was there-Gypsy was on the couch w/ us.

We know it was an echo of our girls gone before us, and they were approving of our decision.

Somewhere in the (un)known Universe?

I have just lost my Stella.

Yesterday one of her rear legs started to give out and by this morning she was not able to stand or walk on it.

She was almost 14 years old, very senior for a GSD, and she was being treated for Degenerative Myelopathy, she was maxed out on treatment, nothing more could be done.

So we took that last trip down to the vets.

The worst part was she was still a young dog at heart, she still enjoyed her walks, even insisting on going out for a short toddle when it was raining, always bright and alert and had a healthy appetite right to the end.

She was bright and bouncy until her last breath.
Her eyes were as bright and big as ever, and she showed me her love for me until the very end.
I am sorry to hear of your loss.
It was a hard decision for me to make that day, but one that had no other possible choice.

I had Tigger's love and affection for almost 15 years. She gave it freely and abundantly for all of her life. And I must confess that I am still very lost without her sharing that with me.

I still have to undertake the task of laying her to rest in the back yard.
Tigger is in my freezer awaiting her burial. I had to do this, as maudlin as in may seem, but I could not properly bury her until now.
The ground is drying up enough that I must not put this off much further.
She needs to be with her sister Squirrel at peace.

Dear Johnny Depp , mate I love your acting and am a great fan but next time you come down under don't lie to customs about bringing your dogs Boo and Pistal into the country it's just not worth the cost of going to court .

So you got a fine and 1 months probation witch has expired . hehehehe you silly twit spose now we can consider you a ozzie seeing you and your wife are now crim's , convicts :-)

Just got home from work, could not reply earlier, had to get out of the house for a while.

I had her for about 8 years, and while I was home she was always by my side, whenever I went to bed she she would lay down and sleep alongside the bed my side facing the door.

She was a good girl, popular with all the neighbours and the local kids, I never used to lead her she just accompanied me when I walked around locally, she seemed to have this ability of being able to find those that would make a fuss of her and to place herself just where they could.

Up untill the last year or so she was a great help when training other dogs, just her presence seemed to help calm and relax them and she was quick to speak out if one tried to get a bit out of line.

She could be a bit embarasing at times, woe betide any parent that did not check a nappy before Stella got near their little one, one sniff and she would look at the (usually) mum and just give a little woof, once a few of the local mums worked out what she meant that was it, another red faced mum and me trying to disappear between the cracks in the pavement. Stella also used to use the little woof if a little one was upset or had fallen over etc and someone was not taking what she considered fast enough attention of them.

Toby I have only had for 3 months, as far as I know he was kept as a single dog for most of his life, he has looked around but does not seem to be to bothered by her loss.

Stella is being cremated and I will scatter her ashes in her favorite park, burial here was not realy an option, the ground is a very heavy clay and at the moment the water table is so high any hole deeper than a foot or so would become a pond.

Got to go now before I run out of tissues.
