A classified Air Force space drone is returning to orbit again, and this time NASA will use the flight to see how 100 or so “materials of interest†hold up in the murderous environment of space. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-05-13/the-secret-air-force-space-drone-heads-back-into-orbit |

I still wonder if and when they announce they are going to scale this thing up to a size that would allow it to work as a taxi to the ISS as originally planned. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

According to theregister.co.uk it is carrying a number of scientific payloads, including a LighSail by the Planetary Society. Its first stage engine is a Russian-built Atlas V. Tullio |

space it is not all that big about 1/4 of the size of the shuttle I think. Why not 30? Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

It looks like that LightSail has communicated with Earth after a reboot and it might be deploying its sail. But the NASA Deep Space Network is not following it, so communication is difficult. All I know comes from the NYTimes. Tullio |

Why not 30? Because the 30 never really had that many in one place. Ice that had accreted from various comets pumped up the numbers, since Ice occupies a greater volume than does water. (Or ... does it? Dah, dah, DAH!) |

Always fun to speculate.. Let's see if they are testing an EM Horn thruster. Never engage stupid people at their level, they then have the home court advantage..... |
