Is Hamburglar universal? Just in case, the Hamburglar is a McDonaldland character who features in McDonald's commercials. He is a close friend of Ronald McDonald, Grimace, and Birdie. He's the guy in the fashionable black and white strips.

Quite a number of recent words are NOT hyphenated, and never have been. The most obvious are "Route-66" - which properly is THREE WORDS, with NO hyphen to be seen.
"Radiator-Springs" - two words
and as for "Tow-matter" - not a word at all, but should that be the Pixar character "Tow Mater"? Again, no hyphen, but two separate words.

These are just pure abuse of allowing the use of hyphens, and not what was intended when the use of hyphens was first permitted.

Sorry :-(
We do tend to abuse the English language. But rules are rules. I have not wanted to police the thread but I guess it's time.

This is going to let some of the fun out of the thread.

-The word has to be linked to the word of the previous poster
-The two words need to link in Google at least
-A hyphen is allowed if the word makes sense in its entirety.

Run 8 is the maximum throttle setting on most diesel-electric locomotives (at least those of North American design).

Earl of Sandwich is a 17th-century noble title in the Peerage of England, nominally associated with Sandwich, Kent. It was created in 1660 for the prominent naval commander Admiral Sir Edward Montagu.

I posed a tame Pepsi Generation commercial. Here is the one where the fireworks burned his hair. It was from this point on that he became addicted to pain kills and barbiturates. You could say that this commercial started hid decline and ultimate death.
Or not.
