...It even restored the "Get Win 10" icon to the task bar. Yeah, right! ;^)

Just in case you ever get that dream again and reconsider. You do know which hoops to jump through to remove that button? :)

Yeah, Method 6 is the one I was planning to use. I wonder why he doesn't present that option first. It seems like the simplest.

...it will automatically install 10 without any permission or input if you leave it sitting there for an hour or so.

Permission? We don't need any stinking permission!

My apologies to any Bogart purists. That was the first thing that popped into my head when I read that line. ;^)

EDIT: Perhaps the long version: Permission? We ain't got no permission. We don't need no permission. I don't have to show you any stinkin' permission!

Greetings,

Has anyone thought about this:

Windows Defender is supposed to protect us from what Micro$oft is doing. What the frack is up with that? What makes them so special that they can do what they prevent others from doing? JUST SAY NO TO WINDOZE 10!

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

And....it's back. The 353.62 driver got reinstalled last evening, despite the updates having been "hidden" by that troubleshooter hack.

Well, fudge. That's quite disappointing indeed.

I apologize if someone has posted this before, I have an ACER Iconia W510 with an Intel Atom processor. When trying to install Win 10 I received a notice that Win 10 won't run due to the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator my display won't work.

The tablet was the main device I was going to upgrade mostly for Cortana.

Anyone familiar with a thread message that deals with this or suggest a workaround? Any help appreciated.

Just a point, to get Cortana to work you have to enable a lot of the privacy switches that really need to be off.

Several sites I have seen discussing Win 10 say that Cortana, as useful as she/it is should be the first thing you disable after install.

Yes it does
It's probably the same crap T-Mobile uses to reinstall their bloatware and install more on demand
you can remove the program and next day it is back on your phone

Good point, I'm guilty of incomplete reasoning, and hadn't realized so much privacy was compromised by that app. In hindsight it seems obvious and being one who has spent my life carefully avoiding being any kind of target for hackers and other evil denizens of the internet jungle, Cortana won't be joining my cyber family for a long while......now I'm re-thinking upgrading any of my machines. Perhaps a rollback to DOS 6.1 is in order...":D

Greetings,

FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS UPGRADE TO WINDOZE 10!

I have been passing the word to people I know to stay away from Windoze 10.
Windows 10 is one giant piece of MALWARE! Upgrade at your own risk.
There is no security in Windoze 10, despite what Micro$oft says.
Windows Defender is supposed to protect you from scum like Micro$oft.

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Good evening I have 2 other machines besides my daily driver and was just checking them for windows 10 status and the 1st one(Intel DP43BF geforce 6600 says that it cannot run 10 because of the 6600) the 2nd one(Intel DG965RY with onboard graphics says it is ready to upgrade) I think this a little strange I think that a stand alone gpu like the 6600 would be better than the onboard gpu but apparently not.

Myself, I'm keeping away from Windows 10 and what to me seems to be the vagueness of continuous updates for some future indeterminate set of conditions (and monthly cloudy fee?)...

Meanwhile, immediately, something of a faux start for a piece of cake?...

I'm not sure that even the press could make this up!

A strange start indeed...

I'm pretty sure the age of the GPU (read: availability of new drivers) has more to do with it than the fact that it is a stand-alone vs. onboard.

Thanks This is from windows 10 my plan is to use this install to try 10 to see if I like it or not before upgrading all of my machines (my daily driver is untouched running a dual boot so I can play with 10 though it will mean some downtime on my daily driver) If I do not like 10 then I can just wipe the drive and use it for extra storage if I like it then I will upgrade all of my machines. Thanks to all who have posted here reading all of the posts helped me a lot during set-up(PRIVACY!!!!!) Will be happy to post any issues that I come across that have not already been posted.

Well I did have the extra key for Windows 7( an oem key but just the same 2 of my 3 machines are oem was looking for 7 home premium for my father in-law and got 3 oem keys for me for about $100) and a spare drive to use so that leaves my daily driver untouched but allows me to give 10 a test drive while still keeping a working copy of 7 until I decide if 10 is good enough.
