So for the past hour I've been sitting here watching some Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Wow, that show goes waaaaaay back. But certainly sexier than the women I'm watching trying to play golf in Scotland dressed in hooded parkas and earmuffs. ;^) |

Erin Gray She was hot back then. Watching the shows again and she is still hot. Unfortunately in the second season they changed her wardrobe from the body hugging body suit to more drab wear. Grant Darwin NT |

Installed on a Intel cruncher with iGPU. It downloads the latest drivers when you install. After rolling back the iGPU driver to the one I had before it couldn't detect my screen so I got stuck at 1024x764 res. You have no control over the drivers, it just downloads the latest and installs it. After rolling back to original it downloaded the latest one again. Edge was quick. Pity about the driver crap. I've gone back to Win7. BOINC blog |

Hush. If you want to watch this show, you'll have to live with the plot holes, the bad acting, the wrong futuristic technology, and icons as Tigerman and Pantherman And of course Princess Ardala on her disco bed: No, really: But I think I've brought this thread off topic far enough. Moderators, I am sorry. I'll be back on topic later on helping Jeff further. |

I am officially a Windows 10 convert. It looks great, works well and I only had to reinstall one application; Soundspectrum Gforce. I also upgraded to the latest CCC without any loss of WUs. Quite happy with the whole system really. Still investigating security and tracking settings. |

Installed on a Intel cruncher with iGPU. I have to pull the network cable during setup do Windows 10 wouldn't start downloading updates in the background. Then once I configured windows to not do constant automatic updates I reconnected the network cable. If we didn't have to support it at work I wouldn't have it anywhere near my machines there. Free OS, yeah sure, and those who falls for it are the real product. Just like everyone with an Android or iOS device. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

'Tis morning on the left coast and nothing seems to have changed re: Windows 10. Before I went to bed, I did a clean install of NVIDIA driver 352.84, hoping to clear out any and all vestiges of 353.62, just in case Windows Update was triggering off some remnant of that driver. When I got up this morning, I checked the BOINC Event Log and it appeared that there had been no changes, with 352.84 still being the latest driver shown. Windows wasn't showing any new notifications, either. Then I went to Windows Update and found: There they are, just waiting to pounce, the next time I reboot. Sigh. Interestingly, it's only showing 3 of the 4 GPUs, but I would expect the update will apply to all 4. Before I reboot, I'll try downloading that "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter hack from MS. I don't know if it will let me preemptively block those updates or if it will only block previously installed updates from reinstalling. Guess I'll find out. On the multiprocessor issue, still no change. No new magical update from MS. I did spend some time last evening poking through the Registry to see if anything caught my eye, but nothing did, really. I did see a lot of processor-related entries that appear in groups of 8, many of them with the full description of the quad-core AMD Opteron 2389, similar to what appears in Device Manager. However, I really wasn't able to figure out the significance of any of them. |

So, are you all so smitten by this so called "free" OS, that you don't bother about that you have agreed in the privacy agreements to this: Wow...seriously? When is the last time you bothered to read an EULA? I had to google it my self to discover the information you posted here. Maybe you should read the agreements for iOS, Android and any number of Linux distributions. These policies are standard for the reason of targeted advertising especially. Your only real security would be to go off grid completely, use nothing but cash, give up your driving privileges...etc... |

So after a busy week, I finally did my upgrade yesterday afternoon. Post upgrade I immediately noticed my graphics driver must have been replaced due to the fact that only two of my three monitors were working, and those two were in mirror mode instead of the extended desktop I had them in. That was quickly fixed by installing the latest Catalyst drivers. BOINC was able to pick up right where it left off once I installed the latest drivers too. Other than that, just a couple other issues that I'm sure will be worked out in due time. Of those issues, I lost my SCCM Software Center and Endpoint Protection anti-virus. I attempted to push a re-install of the software from my SCCM Console but no joy. I'm sure this requires an update to the SCCM client component to work. Cortana won't enable. It tells me that it is disabled by policy. I double checked my group policies just to be sure, but I don't have it disabled. Perhaps with an update... ? Speaking of group policies, I need to create a new Microsoft Edge policy so that the home page is always my intranet page, but I can't modify any of the latest policies Win10 has to offer because they have not released the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows 10 yet. In due time, I'm sure. And speaking of Edge, while it is very speedy, it seems unfinished. When visiting SETI@home and opening any of the threads, it doesn't snap to the latest post as per my preferences. Nor when I visit Newegg, none of the mouse-over functions are working. Beyond that, everything else is working swimmingly. All of my old applications are working as expected. The interface is nice and refreshing and the OS feels very snappy. I was even able to connect my new Windows 8 phone to my desktop computer via Bluetooth! Overall, I'm very happy with my upgrade. Very excited to have installed 10! :-D |

Installed the pro version and activated properly. I can`t say i like it. Its not much better than win 8.1. Two steps backward. Sound didn`t work after install. Took me 2 hours to get it run in the simplest way. Dont even think to get boinc running yet. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I am not a Windows 10 convert. I put it onto one of my machines and promptly took it off again. I did not like it at all. I am staying with Windows 7. |

So, are you all so smitten by this so called "free" OS, that you don't bother about that you have agreed in the privacy agreements to this: I bet there are a good many people that could care less and simply think “I have nothing to hide so let them lookâ€. I am not one of them, and it really does not matter how innocuous the information on my PC might be. It is none of their business. When the time comes, I will probably download the .iso and try doing the install off-line and only connect again after I have done as much as possible to keep Windows 10 from calling home. I suspect trying to secure it after doing the on-line install is like trying to close the barn door after the horse has gone. Luckily I shell in to a Linux server and use a server based Alpine client for my email so they will never be scanning my email regardless of any settings. |
