Thank you Lynn for your mention of this terribly sad news. We are losing so many of our continent's beautiful animals :( Your welcome, and very sad news. :( It's not just me, it's the entire nation that is outraged. @ janne, thanks for your post. I will sign the petition. |

@ janne, thanks for your post. I will sign the petition. Please do. But there are so many more hunting for fun in Africa because it's big money. I I think big game hunting in Africa started when Europe started colonize Africa. How to deal with that I don't have a clue. Actually I do but that would be a long story. |

Ol Pejeta. Only four remain of the northern white rhino when 31-year-old female Nabire died a week. Sudan, 42, is the only male, and if he doesnt manages to multiply the entire species is lost. Now he is guarded around the clock by armed guards. The killing of the lion Cecil has aroused strong reactions worldwide and poaching risks destroying many wild animals. A historic UN resolution was adopted yesterday by the member countries to stop the trade in animals and poaching. Palmer needs a painful dentist experience... Is it safe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-OviftusB8 |

Still don't understand Palmer's 'need' to kill these animals for 'fun'. Author and hunting profile Jan Guillou has himself shot lions in Tanzania but the American dentist lion hunting with bow and arrow he thinks is reprehensible. According to Guillou is bow hunting a "male childishness" and about "egoistic self-assertion" rather than hunting. That bow hunting is also associated with greater risk of injury shooting than hunting with a rifle makes it a despicable form of hunting. |

If any good news can come out of this horrible attack, it's this. Young cubs of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe being looked after by uncle after Walter Palmer's cruel slaying of their father. |

The sad fact is that more than 500 lions are hunted for sport each year by American hunters. This is done legally through permit issuing authorities who claim that the money from this is used for animal conservation and refuges. More than a few elephants are killed each day by poachers. I see no sport in any of this. |

Zimbabwean authorities restrict hunting after lion killing Why does the phrase locking the barn door come to mind? |

Why does the phrase locking the barn door come to mind? Haven't we proved that with Iraq? |

It is not just Americans. There are British who pay tens of thousands of pounds to kill the magnificent wildlife on this continent. Perhaps too much wealth is concentrated in the wrong hands in the west? They say this money helps conservation but even where this is a technical truth, much less than 3 percent of their money does what they say it does. +1 |

I believe someone asked why? The answer does not satisfy. Why do people climb Mr. Everest? Why do people dog sled to the poles? Because it is there; because they can. |

They decided not to share that image because it could be upsetting to some viewers. |

http://bigstory.ap.org/article/f54139d21459425bb93e13c86d90c25a/creators-destroyed-hitchhiking-robot-mull-rebuild We let our mentally ill to walk the streets. And if they have a mental illness they dont get put into the data base for firearm purchases. Only criminals have to be in the data base. Not the mentally ill. [/quote] Old James |
