It is Victory Day today in Russia. I would not mind taking one of those out for a test drive, not loaded of course, but a drive around a cross country test course, it looks as if it could be fun. Kevin |

That pic only shows the outside, interesting to see what they think is on the inside of the President. Dozens (or hundreds) brands of this wide-spread type of ice cream (chocolate and milk cream) in ex-USSR is milk-white inside. |

Russian Defense Ministry revives Soviet-era military-patriotic movement "Yunarmiya". The idea of creating "Yunarmiya," as noted by the Ministry of Defense, is related to the increasing number of military and patriotic associations and "acute demand for the ideas of patriotism and service to Russia". "Yunarmiya" aims to systematize the patriotic movement, as well as "to captivate children in a military-patriotic theme and learn the basics of tactical actions and military history of Russia". Most likely, it will be school children from 14 to 18 years, although figures were heard from 10 to 18 years. https://translate.google.se/translate?hl=sv&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gazeta.ru%2Farmy%2F2016%2F05%2F19%2F8252927.shtml But why not start military eduction in kindergarten? |

Russian Defense Ministry revives Soviet-era military-patriotic movement "Yunarmiya". Brave photographer... I hope it ain't loaded. While I might not be adverse to some level of 'military education' in kindergarteners (especially discipline and obedience - kindergartners can be QUITE unruly), I didn't start receiving weapons training until around age 8, and that was with rifles -- handgun training started several YEARS later with me, around age 13 or so. Nothing wrong with some patriotic instruction, either. As far as history/military history goes... If you don't know where you've been, you can't know where you are going. I don't have a problem with Russia doing this as long as some modest level of good sense is employed. Giving kindergarteners loaded handguns isn't good sense... |

Brave photographer... I hope it ain't loaded. Many of the Russian parents doesn't like the idea. For instance. "Union of Committees of Soldiers' Mothers of Russia" Valentina Melnikova said that all these initiatives are meaningless and harmful. "From the beginning of our work, since 1989, we believe that any attempt to militarize children is a crime and a violation of the Child Rights Act, however beautiful it may be called," - said Melnikov to Gazeta.ru. The human rights activist noted that the sports activities to be carried out "Yunarmiya" are redundant: the Russian children have sufficient conditions to engage in parachute and shooting sports. "It all looks very indecent. It is pointless trying to restore the Soviet ideology. Who needs it? "- A perplexed Melnikov said. |

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his appreciation on Sunday for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s signing of a presidential decree ordering the return of an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Magach tank that was captured in 1982 during the First Lebanon War. The Russian submarine "Som", type Catfish, sank after a collision with a Swedish vessel in 1916, outside Väddö coast, 1.5 nautical miles, 2750 meters from the coast of Uppland, during the First World War and before the Russian Revolution. Russia will have it back when the legale procedures allow. https://translate.google.se/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.forsvarsmakten.se%2Fsv%2Faktuellt%2F2015%2F07%2Fubat-fran-1916-funnen-i-svenska-vatten%2F&edit-text= |

Russia deploys troops westward as standoff with NATO deepens. For some reason I can't help to see that Russia believes that the countries around the Baltic Sea are aggressive! |

EURO Football 2016! Igor Lebedev, an MP and member of the Russian Football Union executive committee, has voiced his support of the hooligan violence. “I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting. Quite the opposite: well done our lads, keep it up!†Lebedev, whose father is the ultra-nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, followed up with more comments on a television broadcast. “I don’t think our fans did anything over the top, and you need to understand that, nine times out of 10, football supporters come to a game to fight, and that’s normal.†Игорь Лебедев Ðе вижу ничего Ñтрашного в драке фанатов. Ðаоборот, молодцы наши ребÑта. Так держать! https://twitter.com/Russian1972/status/742256350424641536 That's a nice welcome to Russia in 2018!!!!!! World's most powerful icebreaker Arktika launched in Russia - http://www.inform.kz/eng/article/2915291 Arktika is build by Rosatom. Only yesterday I read about their plans to have manned missions travelling to Mars in only 45 days. Moreover, the company revealed that the first prototype of the drive will be ready for testing already in 2018. provided they manage to collect the necessary funds. http://www.slavorum.org/russians-plan-to-go-to-mars-in-just-45-days/ |

Security council says NATO's moves to Russian border affects global situation http://tass.ru/en/politics/883518 But Russia can deploy its military anywhere on its territory. Even at the border to Finland that's not a NATO member. http://tass.ru/en/politics/882855 For some odd reason NATO can't deploy its military anywhere on its territory! When they deploy 3 battalions to the border, Russia deploy 3 divisions. When NATO excercise Anaconda in Poland, Russia excercise even more. An unannounced snapcheck exercise with accompanying inspection is now held after the orders directly from President Putin himself. Exactly how many military units involved is nothing Russia has issued publicly. But everything suggests that it is an exceptionally great exercise. http://tass.ru/en/defense/881845 Cold War 2.0 :( |
