Carol Armstrong, Neil Armstrong's widow, discovered her husband kept a stash of memorabilia in his closet from the Apollo 11 mission. The stash was recently given to the National Air and Space Museum for all posterity to enjoy for all time. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/secret-stash-of-moon-artifacts-found-hidden-in-neil-arm-1684449533 Reading the gallery of comments on article, I particularly liked Jesus Diaz's comment... It (the purse) is their property. Apollo astronauts got a lot of mementos from their trips. A recent law (signed by Obama) gave them full property titles over all of them. And rightly so. Also, this would have been discarded at the time. These things were supposed to be left in the LM, and the LM crashed on the Moon. Armstrong got them as souvenirs because they have space for them in the command module. Good for him. |

It is a tribute to his character that he kept them hid away and never tried to amass wealth by selling the artifacts. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |
