Bull frogs are really large and the are pretty long legs. I just fried them in butter on med. heat trying not to burn the butter.

I have ... oh... hello :) Let me start again :)

I have a horrible story about how a friend ended up with frog legs. I won't tell you because it might put everyone off their food. :)

I just wonder why 90% of people here are obsessed with food? OK I eat like a bird, accepted. But at the other extreme ...

If 90% of us are obsessed with food, I'm guessing there is something adaptive about being into food. Probably makes us better foragers. Good thing you're not a caveman, Chris. You would probably starve to death.

P.S. Eating like a bird is not what you do, my friend. Birds are voracious eaters!!!

Yes. We have a nesting pair of these raptors hunting regularly in an empty field behind our house.

Red shouldered hawk.

(Probably should have posted this in the Critter Cafe and not the cooking thread. I don't recommend eating hawks.)

My mom has a large olive tree in front of her house and in late fall it starts dropping olives by the bucket full. No, you don't want to eat them or go through the work of processing them. In any case, the quail show up about the time the olives start dropping. By christmas time the quail are little round ball and I always question how they are still able to fly carrying all that extra weigh. So much for eating like a bird but at least they don't have a cholesterol problem.

I saw once an experiment on TV where a group of brits had to eat only raw vegetables.
After a few days they got problems with the stomacks and they was always hungry.

Any diet where you chop one or more food groups out of the diet requires a good deal of rethinking. My roommate went through several diets and each one required some adjustment somewhere to rebalance it. Atkins for example almost eliminates potassium resulting in cramps. Eliminating meat products means you not only have to find another source of protein but you have to figure out how to balance protein by consuming protein from several different protein sources. Most people eat more meat that they need and would benefit if they reduced their consumption but I tend to recommend a eat everything in moderation diet.

Edit By balancing protein I mean getting complete protein.

I'd probably be dead after a few days of only raw vegetables.

Got the crock pot out making chicken chowder, it takes a while and should be done late tonight. The pot doesn't hold much but just as well, I can get 2 meals out of it.
