To the uneducated such as I, it sounds like: if A=B, and B=C, then A=C.... (I am sure I am somehow wrong..) |

To the uneducated such as I, it sounds No you are not wrong:) Lets put some values in your statement. A=1, B=1. In math thats A=B. Now if B=C? |

C=1? Correct:) You can substitute A to any number (or fruit) and all statements will be correct. Thats why we have algebra... |

I Think everybody knows this symbol. Thats a topologic problem in maths. But also a party trick. Take a sheet of paper and cut a narrow strip (about 1 inch wide). Twist the strip 180 degrees and connect both ends with some scotch tape and walk with a pencil on the surface in one turn. You will be surprised. Then use a scissor and cut where you marked the strip. You will be even more surprised:) |

Just think if such a thing even on planetary scale exists in the real universe .............. In a multiverse Everything is possible. Both math and statistics proves it But then again does infinity exist in reality... |

Just think if such a thing even on planetary scale exists in the real universe .............. Mine were all either black and red or grey. Except for the one I rode at Disneyland......... Ooops, we sorta hijacked Mark's thread. Sorry about that, Mark. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Mine where all dark grey. HMS Springaren:) Dragon II class includes six submarines built by Kockums in the naval dockyard in Karlskrona 1960-1962. They were given the names of the Dragon, Griffin, Wolf, Dolphin, Nordkaparen and Hare. They took part in the 1980s submarine hunts. All are long since scrapped, except Nordkaparen preserved for the world and since 1993 part of the floating ship museum Maritiman in Gothenburg. |

Well, that was fun. Spent the last 3 hours riding around on Lori's lawn tractor towing a dethatcher around on the lawn. Made a mighty fine mess...LOL. It was a beautiful day for it. Bet I got either a good start on this year's summer tan or a touch of sunburn. The fun part comes tomorrow when we have to rake and bag all of the dead grass I pulled up today... The fun part comes tomorrow when we have to rake and bag all of the dead grass I pulled up today... What Are you throwing the grass away? I would pile it at a compost. After some years its a small pile of dirt. Much more easy:) |

Lori does not live in the country where she would have a place to do this. She also does not have a vegetable garden, just lots of nice flower beds which are bedded in with natural wood chip mulch. We take the grass to her town drop off/recycling center, where a few folks actually do come and get some it to compost as you suggest for use in their gardens. So, it does not go out with the trash to the landfill. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

OK:) I thought since you used plastic bags that the grass would be waisted. Many people are doing that... |

No plastic bags....we use the recyclable paper lawn and leaf bags, buddy! "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

The fun part comes tomorrow when we have to rake and bag all of the dead grass I pulled up today... Here in California, we have separate containers for yard & garden waste. In Tulare County, all yard waste goes to a County-contracted facility where it is processed in large rotating composting tanks. Takes about 3 months to turn a tankload into compost. The facility produces several hundred thousand cubic feet of compost annually. The compost is used for landscaping at County facilities, and is sold to landscaping contractors and farmers. From November to January, local residents can drop off yard waste and get a pickup-load of compost free. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
