Nasa was appropriated more money in the new government budget, Thursday, December 11th, which could go toward an exploration mission to Europa... Europa Mission Wins Big in New NASA Budget This is so exciting! I would support this sort of exploration over a steamy, floating city over Venus... I wonder if it will look anything like this video... Europa NASA Ice-Penetrating Ocean Mission 2037 Animation Pete |

isn t it great we get to experience the beginnings of interstellar travel now all we need is a zefram cochrane and a little luck I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

I too am excited about sending a lander to Europa, but it isn't interstellar travel. I hope they include more investigation of Jupiter's other moons in the launch package. Well NASA has a render model of a FTL ship and someone is actually working on it there if they find something to make it work .....Who knows i doubt any nasa scientist would make it public if there wasn t anything behind the scene we don t know about doubt any scientist would say it and make a fool out of himself I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

I believe we have already set probes to the moons of our large outer gas giants. Time is now for some proper science that will confirm or deny the existence of extra terrestrial life. |

IMO the only place we have the technolgy to possibly dectect life is in our solar system, which does not even address the issue of life out out our system. |

Sending a lander to Europa with a probe to tap into the ocean below will put a big dent in NASA's budget so hopefully they will find some form of life. It is also still possible that life will be found on Mars, Titan or Enceladus. The research into FTL and interstellar travel will IMHO remain a low but active priority. Some people need to take a reality check and remember that Sci Fi movies, while entertaining and inspirational, do not depict actual capabilities and such capabilities are still far in the future if obtainable at all. If you can dream it you can do it somehow there is really no limit besides cost and maybe one of these days even that will be gone I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

I've seen programming about those experiments but it is one thing to warp a photon and entirely something else to move a spaceship FTL. The energy required has been estimated to be at the same level of output as several sol sized stars. Now Europa is a dam good idea the only place we know there is enough water , and there fore the most likely place to find life not mars or Venus or some of the others i don't know why we haven't gone there before now ![]() |

There is much concern within the scientific community that a carelessly handled robotic expedition to Europa could contaminate it's ocean with life from earth. So, before rushing to send a lander to Europa much care is being taken to assure those concerned that no contamination will happen. The entire lander has to be constructed in a sterile environment with no possibility of any life forms hitching a ride. This is a daunting task. Yep, just like the JWST, nothing can go wrong or they will lose a hell of a lot of money... rOZZ Music Pictures |

Well, at least the James Webb Space Telescope won't be able to contaminate a planet or moon. If a lander sent to Europa has hitchhikers it could ruin any chance of determining whether or not the moon has life of it's own independent from earth.
