A new study suggests that it wasn't just an asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs. http://www.news.com.au/technology/science/study-suggests-it-wasnt-just-an-asteroid-that-killed-the-dinosaurs/story-fnjwl2dr-1227156627674 Cheers. |

I have heard this before, and the amount of volcanic debris in the atmosphere may well have contributed. The clincher in my mind is the complete absence of dinosaurs above the Cretaceous–Tertiary (K–T) boundary, which contains a very high concentration of iridium. I also would not rule out additional volcanic action triggered by the asteroid impact. The tectonic shock waves must have been tremendous, and may have released many earthquakes and volcanoes. Yes Steve, I agree, the ripple effects through the earth's crust caused by that impact I believe certainly would've caused greater volcanic eruptions. Cheers. |

That's what I think too. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

But, according to scientists, some species of dinosaurs did survive for some years, after the KT event, on places such as Vega Island, Antarctic Peninsula. Their bones are being unearthed, there, every year. Google "Vega Island, Antarctica". I have. It's an interesting place, and one which I wouldn't mind visiting, should I ever acquire a few more coins. |

If the asteroid hit Earth & push hard on the tectonic plate...on the other side of the Earth vulcanos would open! That's only normal... So yes, vulcanos did erupt after Earth was hit...it's only normal that they did! ;) ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

It wasn't that long ago that they thought it was the Deccan Traps that caused the dinosaur extinction. It could also be another asteroid that caused this volcanic activity, the Shiva crater. But some doubted this and they started exploring the KT boundary more and discovered the Chicxulub crater. |

so we all agre the astteroid killed them even if it tooka few more months . The asteroid caused the volcanoes which killed off what was left after the impact . ![]() |

Probably correct. |
