There are probably a lot of aliens that, if they ever got a chance to read this, would get a good laugh. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

Well GRB are real...we all know about that! Story about it on BBC: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-21082617 science behind: http://mnras.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2013/01/08/mnras.sts378.full p.s. Maybe this should be in SETI part of the forum? ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

Only if the life being mentioned is intelligent. If we are just talking about microbes this is the right place. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

We are small and insignificant even if all there is is the Milky Way galaxy. In the bigger scheme of things we are infinitesimal. I really wonder how much of the big picture we are missing or are completely wrong about. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. Even if there can only be life in 10% of the universe that is still a hell of a lot of places there could be life or intellegent life so i would say keep crunching people ET is out there somewhere ![]() |

Very nice picture mp! Wonder if all those pics from the Universe are real or computer generated... I don't think we see those colors with the naked eye if we'd look at it:) What do you think? The colours look to be real but not as we see them... Colours such as those can be seen through the big optical telescopes and from long photographic exposures. For telescopes viewing using wavelengths that our eyes cannot see, then astronomers will use "false colours" to give an artistic but faithful impression of what you could see if your eyes were sensitive to those wavelengths. It is all in the eye of the beholder (or the machine!)... Keep searchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

The false colors are truly false. They represent temperature and the wavelengths that are associated with them. A color that we can see is substituted for a "Color" (wavelength) that we cannot see; such as x-rays and so on. In this way we can get some idea of the totality of radiation and it's type from a cosmic source. |

Microwaves show different colors than radiowaves, ultraviolet, X rays or gamma rays. That's what causes the beautiful and various color combinations in e.g. the Hubble pics. I was expecting someone else to answer but thanx anyway Martin;) rOZZ Music Pictures |

Hi, Julie. Tired of potatoes, perhaps? Try onions instead for Christmas. Fry it on your frying pan. Bought some patties in a packet. Needs a micro for proper cooking. Add some chips sticks (fried in oven). Give it a little time, will you? Mmmmmm, ummmmm. Happy Christmas! |
