From what I've been able to comprehend about oil prices dropping, we're reaching a threshold that will probably boomerang on economies like the U.S., because our producers won't have enough profits to continue technologies like fracking - but, on the other hand, from my limited knowledge, fracking may not be all it's cracked up to be, anyway. I just hope that better alternatives for energy continue to move quickly forward in spite of cheap oil. Do you think the oil prices are going to go back up significantly, or stay about where they are for awhile? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

The House of Saud is at war with mother Russia and oil is the weapon. I believe the intent is to collapse the Russian economy. How this plays into Crimea ... As to length, oil interests have already ceased purchasing new extraction technology equipment. They obviously believe that the prices will remain low for a long time. |

This is just terrible for us here in Alberta. Right at the start of another winter, and now we citizens don't get to pay those horrible gas prices this year to heat our houses..... |

Yes, this is mainly aimed at Russian oil, but a little of it also has to do with North America's increase in oil independence as well. Cheers. |

Cheaper oil prices aslo could mean they cant invest so much in nuke resaerch? I hope it lasts through the winter. I heat with propane. And last year I paid with tears.
Old James |

Gasoline, diesel and LPG prices are finally falling, yet we're still paying loads more than neighboring countries. And then our government is upping the tax on gasoline and diesel per January 1st, so that of every €1.509 we'll pay €0.766 on taxes and VAT. Unbelievable. We have the most expensive gasoline in Europe. Nothing said about the natural gas used for cooking and electricity. Over that we pay an 'energy tax', which is about half of the energy bill. Over this 'energy tax' we pay separately extra tax and over all of that we pay 21% VAT. So whatever you do, do not come live or have vacation in The Netherlands. Or if you must, be sure to hitchhike everywhere. Because you do not want to figure out how the public transport card works, why you have to pay for an empty one, why you have to have one per person, why it needs a minimum of €20.- to 'load', and what happens if you can't 'log out' when you get out of the bus or train. Oh and of course each and every transport supplier has their own card, and you cannot use the card of one with the other. So no, you can't travel on one card with your wife and 4 children, everyone needs their own separate card per €7.50, add a minimum fee of €20.- per card, and then you have to watch out where you travel to, as it may all of a sudden happen that you have the wrong card and thus haven't paid and are in violation. You and your whole family will then be fined. |

As far as fuel taxes go, I don't really have any complaints in Kentucky, but we will have to start paying a toll for a new bridge, soon. Such is life. - I just won't go to the other side. ;~} The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Gas prices are decreasing here atm whereas the electricity bill will rocket into the sky with 30% next year... Mostly because of a major power plant that broke down. Very strange because gas, as a raw material is considered to be scarce whereas electricity is man made and can be produced at all times if budget permits of course. rOZZ Music Pictures |

mmmm so people think the Saudi's are trying to break Russia . NOT going to work also not the reason why the price has drop'd either . It will be Canada and America that will break first . There's more afoot than people realize to this . Beware the man that carry's a staff when he comes to your land and says he's a friend as he is not a friend but a snake in disguise |

mmmm so people think the Saudi's are trying to break Russia . I disagree. I belive it is to punish Russia. Make mideast oil cheaper than Russian oil. Hell, we all know the mideast hates the US. They would raise the price in a heartbeat if they figured they could stick it to us. And I wont forget that what ever is going on the price will be raised just as fast at whatever point is being proved. My driving habits havent changed one bit. I still fill up once a week, And do no unecssary driving. But my wallet loves the lower price for now.
Old James |

I disagree. I belive it is to punish Russia. Make mideast oil cheaper than Russian oil James it's got nothing to do with Russia after all they cam produce it just as cheap as the Arab's . Don't cost much to drill a hole and just pump it out but Canada's oil tar sands well that is totally different . And to think your spending heaps on a pipeline to bring the oil down to the gulf , mmmmmmmm one big white expencive white elephant . And it's going to cost poor Canada and you guys heaps of cash if you keep extracting it from the tar sand s . minimum to break even on that is $65 per barrel. And to think the terrorist get a lot of cash from them back stabbing Sudia's |

The US and Canada doesn't. well clyde if you can't expand it then you will be forced to buy fom them or the Russians And your country still owes how much again ???? So your not realy in any better position then the Russians when it come to paying your debts Canada might not have a problem but i'm not shore if they owe much . |

No way mate have't you herd in only 12 mnths mister Tony Abbot and his adult government as a 40 billion dollar debt now and to think he did it all in only 12 months . Maybe we should have keep'd the children in office as they had much less debt and it took 6 years and the GFC to do it so im afaid you will have to go else where to get your loans where broke now or at least that is what Abbot keeps saying an economy of 1.5 trillion and we are now broke cos we now owe 40 billion that's what 4% of GDP yep we are broke now |
