I am sure a lot of you that are running GPU farms have quite the electricity bills every month, getting paid for your SETI work will be much more rewarding I am sure. Not only that, but being compensated for SETI@home will draw in a bigger percentage of the general public which will in turn further expand the signal analyzing capability of the SETI project. What does everyone think? |

Just send me the toaster. Really. Or maybe just send me the funds to pay my electricity bill for a month. I'll believe it when I see the check clear. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

I suppose you are right, it is better in the team recruitment because in order to mine Gridcoin you need to join the Gridcoin team on Boinc. I think this thread should be moved to Politics. You are a also a member of the Gridcoin team and are clearly trying to advertise for them. Perhaps this would even be better in the team recruitment centre. |

I think you got the wrong idea, gridcoin is a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, so you download the Gridcoin wallet software and it will check how much credits your Boinc cpid has and on which projects, and then you are allowed to mine for Gridcoin, once your cpu solves a block, you get paid. There is no check in the mail!! Just send me the toaster. |

If I ever had to be paid for my crunch, I will give all this money to the SETI@home project by donation ! :) |

That is a good idea. Also boincstats.com is currently accepting donations in Gridcoin so you can also donate to them, as they have quite a hefty monthly hosting bill. http://boincstats.com/en/page/donate Gridcoin donation address for boincstats: G9LXAdfJ2ZrHZCwqN2W5o3hxDECvnkfXAu If I ever had to be paid for my crunch, I will give all this money to the SETI@home project by donation ! :) |

To be paid a bit of $$$. It is a nice idea. But... This would kill the bank account in a heartbeat. It is great to believe in "The Power of One." Now multiply that by the power of everyone on the planet. The math is beyond me at the moment. |

The new Gridcoin wallet does not require any kind of hashing/mining and you also get interest!! All you have to do is run the wallet and Boinc, that is it!! |

just went to have a go myself with a completely open mind. I dont like the website. right off the bat, when you goto the download screen you have several choices of files to download (3 for windows i think) and no real description of what each file is meant to be. dont know if you are suppose to download all 3 or just one of e.t.c there doesnt appear to be any install guide within easy reach in the faq. i understand the basic concept but there is no simple way to know what the hell your installing. not knocking the concept or the program in anyway, but access to simple data is not easy. i shouldnt need a 'buddy' to explain things either. a random person who discovers this thing by accident and wants to explore the options, should be able to download, install, configure, run and update and change their mind and uninstall and remove from computer without ever having to ask for help. im out till their procedures are more friendly. |
