I did it my way... You guys will think I'm crazy but this is the song they HAVE to play at my funeral: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIp_N6bjj64 I might think differently when I'm older but this is my choice right now and has been for a long time already... rOZZ Music Pictures |

I'm not going to have a tombstone, my ashes are going to be divided. A small portion will go to space on a rocket, the rest will go out to sea one last time, on a submarine, and be sent to Davy Jones' Locker. If someone does erect a memorial to me, I hope they say I left the place a little bit better than I found it..... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

LOL.. Thanks, Chris. I guess I never thought about it as being an epitaph. But now that I think about it, it would be quite suitable. Your thread also reminds me of an old Jerry Lee Lewis song.... Don't Put No Headstone On My Grave. Which he ends by quipping..."Don't put no headstone on my grave....I want a MONUMENT." Meow! "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Good for you Donald, also in memory of the Brave Americans lost defending our freedoms. USS Thresher (SSN-593) The second USS Thresher (SSN-593) was the lead boat of her class of nuclear-powered attack submarines in the United States Navy. Her loss at sea in the North Atlantic during deep-diving tests approximately 220 miles east of Boston, Massachusetts, on 10 April 1963 was a watershed event for the U.S. Navy, leading to the implementation of a rigorous submarine safety program known as SUBSAFE. Judging by the 129 crew members and shipyard personnel who were killed in the incident, historic context and significance, the sinking of Thresher was then, and remains today, the world's worst submarine disaster. As the first nuclear submarine lost at sea, its disappearance generated international shock and sympathy USS Scorpion (SSN-589) USS Scorpion (SSN-589) was a Skipjack-class nuclear submarine of the United States Navy and the sixth vessel of the US Navy to carry that name. Scorpion was lost on 22 May 1968, with 99 crewmen dying in the incident. The USS Scorpion is one of two nuclear submarines the US Navy has lost, the other being USS Thresher.[3] In November 2012, the US Submarine Veterans, an organization with over 13,800 members (all former submariners), asked the US Navy to reopen the investigation on the sinking of USS Scorpion. |

I do hope no one bothers going to all the expense of burying me in any way or form. :/ Be happy with jar 3, third shelf from the bottom (if medical science wanted a jar 3 of course and could spare some formulin) :) Suppose if I HAD to have something that summed up me being dead beneath it then... knew it... would do... or SPLAT... Unless I went in an unusual way of course... harpooned for example... by a Japanese whaling ship... think it would be nice to have that recorded for posterity... |

I don't really have an epithet in mind, and I don't really care what happens to my body after I die, but my mom bought my grave site many moons ago, so I'm going in the ground. The only problem is, the funeral and burial is not paid for, and that is ridiculously expensive. The funeral parlors want to sell you gold caskets, and impermeable vaults. I've told them to just throw me in the hole, but even that isn't without a price. ~They charge for digging it, and filling it, plus there's the stone on top. I don't mean to sound that negative; it's just a racket industry that plays/preys on a lot of people. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |
