Well I've done it again, I lost 6lbs, somewhere, I'm down to 365lbs, that's 53lbs since I started... Another 25lbs to go and I'll be down to 340lbs or so, when will that happen? I've no idea. Though I think then I might buy regular mayo instead of the low fat kind.

Don't stop Vic...keep going.

You will find that things will get easier as your weight drops, not a lot, but look back and you'll find things are easier

Well I'm losing most I think from My thighs, not My abdomen, that might never go away and surgery would work, but no one will do that in the county where I live at, IEHP is My health plan that overlies on top of Medi-Cal and it's only valid in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, but that's the 'Inland Empire Health Plan'... Straight Medi-Cal would work elsewhere, but the one place I talked to, said I'd have to live nearby, in Long Beach CA and that is way too expensive for Me. Plus My weight is tied to something else and I don't want to lose it at 54, so 340 is it. I'm very scared of going farther for now, after I'm 65 ok.

I don't understand.....you don't know for fact that it "might never go away". Simply keep up the diet. I think a goal of under 300lbs would be tremendous for you.

Where one looses weight, and in what sequence the weight loss appears, is not always obvious.
In your case your thighs had probably suffered from fat filling in for muscle loss, and that fat is among the easiest to loose. Once that's reduced your body will start to get rid of other fat.
My own weight loss has only recently resulted in a reduction in my beer belly, the first place for me to notice it was my face, which is a lot less flabby than it was, then my thighs (but they've now increased in sized, but with muscle not fat).... Still waiting for the moobs to reduce....
Setting a target is a good thing, and 340 is a far better target than 360. As yo approach 340 see how you feel, you might want a short rest, or you might feel you can manage a few more pounds. (Remember 340 is a loss of over 60 from your starting point)

There are two ways to look skinny. The unpleasant way is via diet and exercise. The other option is to over-feed everyone around you and then try to look thin in comparison.

Judging by the way that everyone got fed to within an inch of their lives, she was lucky to get away with just 3 pounds :-)))

Uli fought bravely against the inevitable. The rest of us just gave in. I am too scared to weigh myself since I got back. I didn't make it to the gym this morning as I'm not quite recovered yet.

Vic could be right. My roommate carried about 100 extra pounds for years and when her weight fell to normal levels, she retain a skin and fat flap on her stomach. They do surgery to correct it as it is common to have skin issues from the moisture trapped by the flap. Still the loss of weight did bring her blood sugar under control and helped reduce the load on her joints. I would suggest Vic talk to his doctor about how much weight to lose because 340 pounds could make him more susceptible to diabetes. I would guess the doctor would like to see a number around 200 pounds with Vic's history.

Lets see I weigh about 365lbs still, I was tested for diabetes and I don't have that, My intake of sugar is already pretty low, as is My intake of fat and I eat low calorie per serving foods, so I don't see Me getting diabetes, the only substantial source of sugar in My diet is ice cream and I don't buy that all the time.

Type II diabetes is something that develops over time. At her peak weight my roommate was about 250 pounds but dropped to about 230 after the peak weight. At 5'9" she was over weight but she didn't develop diabetes until she was around 70 years old. Dropping her weight to 200 pounds, oral medication and diet care brought her sugar levels to the normal range but when her weight dropped to around 150 pounds, Her blood sugar returned to normal. You may not have Diabetes yet and you may never develop it because there is a genetic component to it, but your risk is greater the longer you carry the extra weight. LIving with diabetes isn't fun so I hope that you consider eliminating the possibility before you have the problem.

Neither of us were ever big sugar eaters and most of the weight my roommate gained was from plain food in quantity. We did have desserts with sugar but beverages used artificial sweeteners. It's not the sugar but the calories that cause weight gain and diabetes.

There is noting wrong with ice cream in moderation and the way you are losing weight, you appear to understand this. Your weight loss is almost to fast but from what I understand, it's common to lose weight fast at first when you have a large amount of weight to lose. Weight loss becomes harder and slower as you approach your ideal weight.
