I hate exercising. I really do. Still, in anticipation of evil eating all weekend, I have now exercised two days in a row. Yesterday I walked home from our local BART station - a 55 minute uphill climb. This evening Maya and I did our usual route. Gosh I hate exercising. What do you exercise people see in it?

Pain ,suffering and if I'm lucky weight loss.:-(

edit: PS Nobody ever lost any weight riding their motorbike to the supermarket to get a dozen cinnamon doughnuts.

What do you exercise people see in it?

Well I felt the same way last year when I realised that since "retiring" my clothes had started to shrink and felt too tight.

Now, I have zero interest in sport full stop, but I did quite like walking.

So I started walking round my local park, to give myself a purpose I took my camera to record anything notable.

Well a year later having met a few other people I am now the unofficial photographer for the "Friends of Park Hill Park" a group that is working with the local council to improve facilities in the park. (My pictures are used on flyers that are being posted around Croydon)

I also have thousands of photos of the park throughout the seasons and as a plus my clothes fit again, though the original reason I started my daily walk I sometimes forget!

Had a face to face encounter with some people I definitely didn't want to see last night on my walk. This rattled me quite a bit so I drank a can of Guinness and ate 5 cinnamon doughnuts. DANG!
Started food dairy yesterday and was up to 1124 calories for the day. So had to add 155 cal for the Guinness and cant quit get a value for the doughnuts but best google search says 150 cal each. They weigh 160 grams and are dipped in sugar.

So 1124 + 155 + 750 = 2029 Goal is less than 1400.

Just shows how easy it is to blow the budget. :-(

Pick something that you enjoy that gets some exercise. Start off easy. It does not really matter what. Flamenco, Contra Dance, Highland Dance, Karate, walking, whatever so long as you move ...

[edit]

No, I have not tried most of those.

[Second edit]

My office has a walking trail, and a couple of friends and I try to take walks on the trail when we can. Some of us have different speeds. 2 of us can walk about 4 miles in an hour, but another of us can only make 2 miles and it takes about 45 minutes.

My son decided he liked karate, so I started that.

I am a Scout Leader. Sometimes that involves quite a bit of exercise.

Vacations tend to be sans car.

Oh, I totally understand. I am very stressed over this BC teacher's strike right now and yesterday I hit the potato chips and those chocolate covered popcorn snacks that were sent straight from the devil.

Fortunately I have teens who intervened and ate all the chips, but they didn't make it in time to stop me eating all the chocolate covered popcorn.

I tried to do better today, but I slept so badly that I couldn't face going for my swim.

I'm lucky to get 4-6 hours of sleep in bed, so I try to take a nap, but that isn't always successful, I get a hankering for a good snack now and then, ice cream is My preferred choice of poison.

I love ice cream, but savory snacks tend to be my downfall.

Sorry to hear this Esme. I think it's just unrealistic to think we won't have bad days and accasional slip ups. The hard part is to stop caneing ourselves and get back on track as fast as we can. The only way I have ever coped with high stress is to drink myself stupid. :-0

That's definitely a problem. Doughnuts disappear so fast though, I don't think their calories count as much. ;~}

Thats a 2 hour walk done. Dont know how far because I realisd it was Friday and late night shopping so I detoured into town. Found a classic movie on blu-ray cheap so I got it. 2001A space odyssey.
Been good today only eaten 1150 calories so I can have a snack before bed if I get too hungry.

@Gordon Yep doughnuts are less calories if you eat them with your eyes closed too. :-)

and a cookie that broke in the package has no calories left. (If you break it intentionally, this does not count).

Quite right, of course. I've heard that all the calories leak right out.
