I'm surprised that no discussion was started on this subject. This comet is taking a wild ride to within less than one million miles from the sun. I would post a link but I have been unsuccessful in doing this in the past. Amateur skywatcher snaps pics in a jiffy* using remote robo scope Using the Harvard-Smithsonian MicroObservatory's "Donald" remote robo telescope in Arizona, Mellin grabbed some low-res images of the comet, which the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics then turned into an animated GIF movie. Picture is in the link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/11/19/comet_ison_gif/ |

I do hope it becomes clearly visible to the naked eye in the northern hemisphere after Thanksgiving. So many comets that I got my hopes up on just fizzled out. It would be great to see it, but Hale Bopp was the comet that amazed me all summer in 1997. It was like an old friend in the sky. I could look up every day and see it - completely mesmerizing. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

The PBS program will most likely be reaired and they announced that it is available online. I think there is somewhat more content and less fluf in PBS programming than on commercial TV. Comet ISON entered the field of view of the HI-1 camera on NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory, or STEREO, on Nov. 21, 2013, and the comet shows up clearly, appearing to still be intact. NASA Releases Comet ISON Images from STEREO Please click link to see the images. Thanks :) |

At least, that's what it looks like to me. |

Skygazers are nervously awaiting the outcome of Comet Ison's impending close encounter with the Sun, which could put paid to hopes that the icy ball will put on a jaw-dropping display across the night sky. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/11/25/comet_ison_update/ |

Astronomers keeping a close eye on the highly-anticipated Comet ISON, are reporting that ‘something’ is happening to the icy visitor as it quickly plummets towards the sun. And it may, or may not, be bad news for skywatchers. http://newswatch.nationalgeographic.com/2013/11/26/comet-ison-cliffhanger/ |

Don't look for ISON during the day on Nov. 28. NASA spacecraft will watch it and we'll post photos here. As always, never look directly at the sun. -- If it doesn't break up, ISON will be visible near the horizon in early December. Look to the East before sunrise and to the Northwest after sunset. http://www.nasa.gov/ison/index.html#.UpZ3cyfTDSc click link NASA has more images. |
