Since this thread has wandered off subject to the topic of Intelligent Design I will make this one last statement from my viewpoint. If all of this is the product of an individual designer then I would call it stupid design. Why you ask? Spend your first sixteen years in and out of children's hospitals where all you see are children with all sorts of birth defects from paralysis to limbs attached backwards or of unequal lengths or young children with one form of cancer or another then maybe you too will question whether there is an intelligent designer behind all of this. An intelligent designer would never allow such defects to happen. I can quote hundreds of similar defects just here on earth all of which point to the conclusion that S#*t happens, totally at random and without reason.

Telling me or any other disabled person that their condition happened for a reason is the biggest insult of all. I can live with knowledge that my condition is a random act of nature but I get livid when someone tells me God made me this way for a reason.

And by the way, I do believe UFOs are possible but I really doubt that anyone has seen a craft from elsewhere in the universe.

According to wiki the humanities is an academic discipline referred to as a social science, not an empirical science like biology, chemistry or physics.

Social sciences employ either quantitative research (and thus, all the math and science learned in a stats course) or qualitative research (which, when using triangulation among other things, works to be also scientific rather than just the observations and opinions of some observer). Some studies may even use both types.

The thread is apparently about UFOs and not ID.

More direct evidence for Intelligent Design the for UFO's. It's just a fact. Yet you place blind faith in UFO's. WoW!

If it is unidentified and you think it flies you say it must be evidence for intelligent design. That somehow must make sense to you.

Which people are placing faith in UFOs?
If anything, most here believe in the possibility of extra-terrestrial life but few if any believe it is possible they traveled here.

Agreed, but social sciences have so many potential variables, it makes it quite hard to come to proper conclusions. Even controlled social experiments run into problems when applied consistently in the general population; and results can change wildly in a given culture.

Social sciences have their place, but they are not to be confused with the natural sciences, which is what evolution and biology use.

Evolution and biology use an unproven Faith that they are correct.

Odds are very low. As a matter of fact we shouldn't even be here...

The only thing UFOs and creationism have in common is they both attract people who are afraid to say "I don't know".

I don't believe in either.

The math tells me that even we shouldn't be here, so I doubt life on another planet.

Just about any rock I pick up tells me that the earth has been here longer then 6,000 years.

I don't believe in either........

We got the media to blame. They're driving people crazy with their stories about UFO's, cospiracy theories, alien abductions etc...
Should be prohibited to spread a false truth...

If you don't want to be driven crazy reading about UFOs, then simply don't read the articles or buy the newspaper. To hold someone else responsible for your own actions is disingenuous.

And mandating that all news channels print only "truth", you come dangerously close to running a China-esque communistic dictatorship. Who gets to decide what is truth? How do you know it is truth before the news is over?

If a newspaper writer believes in UFOs and writes about them, I support his right to do so. But it isn't his fault if you read it and believe it too.

Yes, I agree the news should only give us the truth. First we need to agree on what truth is. Then we need to make sure everyone understands the math, odds are we are alone in the universe.

ID, you continually ask others to define "truth", you then tell anyone who defines "truth" that they have got it wrong, but you are extremely reluctant to give us your definition - I can but assume that you have insufficient understanding of "truth" to define it, in your own words. So come on, enlighten us all.

Like Chris says, the media moguls own half the world news these days, they do have a much bigger influence than people think. It isn't the journalists fault if you read it, agreed but aren't we all interested in what happens in the world these days and doesn't the media provide us all that 'information' we so desperately seek sometimes? They make their articles that way to attract people's attention. Just like a salesman, making his product attractive to possible customers... My point is that all this 'information' should be taken with a grain of salt

Yes, all news outlets are businesses and as such need to turn a profit, therefore they will print things they think will sell. This is why you have different rags with differing levels of reputation and viewpoints.

The only way you're (plural) going to put the trash rags out of business is to vote with your wallet. Simply don't read or buy them, or as you said take them with a grain of salt. They can only have an influence over you if you allow them to.

But there's certainly no reason to make laws preventing them from writing whatever they wish, and there's no reason to hold them accountable to their lack of facts as a rule of law - but certainly take them to task on a professional level and call them out on their lack of facts!

Agreed 100%. It's just a pity the majority of people today are so impressionable and it's mostly caused by indoctrination...

Agreed. But it isn't their fault people are like that. I think people need to be held to a higher level of education and learn some critical thinking skills.

No doubt.....

H.G. Wells 'War of the Worlds' over time has turned into proof of mermaids, just ask the Discovery Channel.
