A work in progress. That being said, it's still pretty intense to see the working theory being done by scientists. If they are able to prove it as practical, that would be pretty cool. Again, a theory that's nifty to see some attention and testing. Who knows what the future holds. Another intriguing explanation.

And then we can't humor the possibility without watching this!

This is testing a hypothesis to find out if it can become a theory.

Wait for the working model before you make any plans. Probably pseudo-science.

I think it's kind of like the experiments that have been conducted in teleportation. I have seen so far that they have been able to transmit the information about a single atom. A very long way from sending you or me anywhere. But that's not saying that a young genius sometime in the not so distant future won't have a eureka moment and invent a truly unique transportation method.

When people tell me they think that they can spin straw into gold, I always ask them to show me some of their product and where can I buy that spinning wheel and technique.

...Leave it to the debbie downers of the forums. I knew you two gentlemen would show up and try to burst the "what if?" bubble of hopeful nature associated in hearing of these exciting experiments going on in this field.

But ya failed! Still exciting and still worth keeping an eye on for the rest of us! New discoveries are made all the time, this perhaps could have the potential of becoming something one day, and then again it may not :D

Iron drives where once the stuff of star trek but we've had them for a while so you never know with space being open to private company's now it mite be quicker than we think

It's probably an advantage to be an informed skeptic than to be a starry-eyed dreamer. There's less chance of being duped by the man at the medicine show selling snake oil. Until the laws of physics change (as they become more refined with time and advanced proof /disproof of theories) then warp drives, teleportation and traveling faster than the speed of light will remain whimsical fantasies.

I say keep dreaming and wishing but keep your eyes wide open at the same time.

I think that teleportation of photons is already being done. But they are massless particles.

IF they can perfect that quantum computer. Then we might see some break throughs in physics and quantom mechanics.

James they have to first figure out the problem of not being able to look at it .Sort of restricts it's use

What quantum law is doing it ?

I guess I am one of the "debbie downers" the young man referred to. When I was 15 I watched Star Trek and when I was 18 I watched "2001 a Space Odyssey". Living in Florida I also watched Alan Shepard, John Glenn and most of the other Astronauts take off into space right up to the last shuttle launch. It thrilled me then and it thrilled me watching the last shuttle mission launch. But, probably as a factor in growing old I have come to realize that deep space flight, even as depicted in "2001" is several human generations away. But I would love to be proved wrong.

Chris i'm betting on the Higgs field

another year then the LHC will have more power and be more able to conferm the results

There was a BOINC project called AQUA@home which simulated a quantum computer. It was introduced by a Canadian firm called D-Wave which managed to sell what they called "quantum computer" D-Wave One to Lockheed Martin, an armament firm for a hundred million dollars. Then AQUA@home, which was criticized by some volunteers because it was seen as a profit searching project, disappeared with no explanation. They are still working in the field and publish their results but there are some doubts in academic circles if they have really built a quantum computer. Quantum computing is still more related to basic research in quantum mechanics than to computer engineering, at least in my opinion.

Tullo I know of only 1 Qantum computer I was watching a doco on the box .It works but you can not stay in the room once you start it calculating otherwise it just stops ,simular to what happens when you fire 1 proton from a laser through a slit of paper and have sensors to detect the proton as it passes through the slit it stops acting weird .I can't remember what the experiment was called .
I understand what they have done to make the quantum computer but I can't remember what particle or element there using but has something to do with 2 circles and a quantum bit going in oppist directions .Anyway there is 1

Maybe googleing it mite give you more info sorry

Bloody old age the old brain is not having a good day today ....lol

Well not sure of Warp Drives, but this may help, if not, how about that old 50's Sci-fi chestnut The antigrav drive?

Antigravity gets 1st test at CERN

Thank's Sirus cool article I just hope there carful messing around with antimatter mmmm ...!!

Wonder if that could explain why there's no antimatter it didn't destroy it's self but flew away

Maybe dark matter is antimatter ?
