Right now this really only delays the awarding of credit, unless all the other hosts are suffering from this bug. That would mean the same workunit would have to be sent to four different hosts suffering from the same bug. Numerically speaking, it isn't very likely. I'm not trying to make light of this bug, but please understand, the dev team would have to roll back the Alpha group from testing the 4.5x branch to take this fix for the public release right now. That in turn could delay the public launch of E@H by a few weeks. We are a few weeks away from the E@H launch, and 4.5x/4.6x rollout. The 4.5x/4.6x branch has a fix for this bug, plus the graphical UI for Mac, Linux, and Solaris. Plus the graphical science application support for the already mentioned platforms. This will bring all platforms into feature partiy with each other. It's a big release. On the Windows side, there is a new installer which can be configured for mass deployments, configuring Windows to run BOINC as a service, and a few other nifty features. Trying to fix this now would be costly for all the projects. I hope you all understand, we are trying to get this done as quickly as possible. ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Berkeley |

> Poor Mikey, the Blood Hounds are out to get him ... > > If this is science then this account can skew the results Yes PB it is irritating. But it is a problem. What if there is 5 users like this 10 20 30.... I think it's worthy of correction. |

Myself, I have better things to do than worry about somebody elses account... |

@ Matt and @ ROM Timmy is obviously right, There must be something wrong with the following user OR with your filehandling system. The team should look into this as soon as possible mikey2345: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=701952 He is continuously adding PC's to his list... Or is this a new method of putting zero's on your Seti Boinc drives?? Greetings from Belgium ;-)) |

Thanks for your support Mr. Linux, Poor Boy I really don't understand your negative feelings about this problem. >"Well you had better get ready to do some serious Blood Hounding when they shut down Seti Classic, because it will be a nightmare once all those people switch over to BOINC. Myself, I have better things to do than worry about somebody elses account..." If we as the "Pioneers" for SETI/Bonic and are part of the Team we should point out these problems now so we don't have to be snoop dogs down the line. Yes I have Better things to do and I do them. If I had a clear line of communications with the SETI Staff I would contact them Directly. Tim |

Hello Folks, We support (all of us) this project and for that we want to help in running it smoothly and fluently to maximize the scientific credit. Therefore the action of Timmy is NOT to be read as "bloodhounding" but should be understood as a serious warning for something as far as we now from our side wich could : 1. stall the system in the long run (perhaps)? 2. could cause damage / overload to the database? 3. could be a result of a programming quirk? 4. most likely is or could be something badly wrong with a user's computer... All in all for the good, somebody should really take a look into this matter because things could go worse in the long run and put us all out of business for some time. Server down etc... you know... We all saw this happen already. Thanks to Tim and the others (Tony Martin) in the thread for being positive detectives to draw the attention on this one, May the Great Crunching Force be with Thou Greetings to you all from Belgium ;-)) |

To Mr. Seti, Please be so kind to look into the urgent threads if / when you come out of the pub. There seems to be something weird with : mikey2345: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=701952 This user creates 1000's of PC's with zero credits and "The Beat Goes On..." Thx, greetings ;-)) |

Development team usually don't look in this forum very often. Usually at their desks coding, or checking server stats, or doing DB queries. Matt and ROM probably look once a day or so. |

> Poor Mikey, the Blood Hounds are out to get him ... > Abuses of the medical system, frankly parasitic behavior, by a significant fraction of doctors and other providers of medical care (but mostly doctors) in the past, led to the advent and proliferation of the HMO system in the United States. Simply put, a feeding frenzy, at the expense of insurance companies that were slow to catch on, brought about the current system in which the doctor-patient working relationship has been intruded upon by bureaucrats erecting de facto impediments to medical care. These excesses could and should have been policed internally by physicians. But they were not. Now we have a system wherein a committee somewhere outside of the examining room passes judgement upon the physician's concern about the thyroid nodule found on physical exam of a patient with a fifteen percent weight-loss over the past three months. Yikes. A blood hound is a tool for tracking down suspected perpetrators of wrong-doing. Multiple SETI crunchers have taken a look at the mikey2345 account and found it puzzling and alarming. They would like someone inside SETI to take a look. They don't seem to be saying, "Let's hang the bloke." But a look-see appears in order. I frankly support the sniffing around by some of our computer-savvy colleagues here in cruncherville. Beats the hell out of some of the alternatives. Robert |

Yes, I understand mikey has some sort of problem & it should be fixed, but the Blood Hounds have been Baying at the Moon (hehe) since the 15th of November over this persons account to no avail. Either the Dev's don't care about it or figure it's not hurting anything or just have better things to do than worry about mikeys account. I don't even think mikey knows it's happening because since he joined in January 2004 he has hardly crunched any work at all so he probably doesn't pay much attention to his account. |
