Similar to the laptop problem, I have enough work for a couple days in case of network issues, yet it waits until its done with all of the work before it gets any new work.

What I'd expect is that it ask for new work when results are available for 70% or so of the current results. That reduces the odds of me having idle time later when I've completed all the current work.

Go to your account page on the web site, and set the "connect about every __ days." to about 2. This will keep 2 to 4+ days of work on your computer, and will get new work when the amount of work drops to less than 2 days.

Shawn,

It looks like your Dual Xeon server (with Hyperthreading = 4 CPUS) does each WU in about 22,000 seconds. Since it does 4 at a time it outputs about one every 5,500 seconds, and therefore should crunch 15.7 WUs a day.

Only you can look at the information on your computers about how what percent of the day they do crunch, and what percent they have network access.

Check those percent numbers....

The system should request work as follows... [days between connects] * 86400 * [% time system is on per day] * [% resource share].

If machine is allways on %time_day should be close to 100%.

yes indeed go to account preferences and set longer period of connecting to server [connect to server every X days]

then if you want to get the WUs immediately simply check the project in the projects tab right-click on it and press [Update] - new WUs will be downloaded immediately
