I keep getting this error message on my screen for my 3.4 Ghz intel core i7 running Mac OS X 10.73 and BOINC 6.10.58 wxwidgets 2.8.10 "Can't open setiathome_6.05_power-pc-apple-darwin because power pc applications are no longer supportted" Dependent on how long I allow the screensaver to run the message appears multiple times, tiling down my screen. Why is my setiathome trying to run the power-pc application? My other mac (2 GHz intel core duo running 10.6.8) doesn't show any error messages If I check my BOINC messages on the i7 I see seti@home results are being sent in and there is even one running as I write this - so why the spurious error messages? |

You don't have any computers attached to the account you are posting from. That's not the reason for your problem, but it prevents us from checking the details of your computers. Perhaps you've created a second account when attaching to SETI@home. To post from the other (active) account, log off from this one and, when logging on again, select the "forgot password" link. There, take the second route, with the <authenticator> method. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. You don't have any computers attached to the account you are posting from. But that is not the problem really, I ran into the Power-PC app to Intel computer bug on Beta and told Eric about it. I guess he missed something in the code as it popped back up on main. ![]() |

Okay, this should be the account so you can check my computers Note: the problem only occurs on one of my Imacs (I have two currently) and of course not on my windows machine either |

I'm probably having the same problem. My Mac is running OSX version 10.7.3 and it looks like BOINC is attempting to run setiathome_6.05_powerpc-apple-darwin instead of setiathome_6.05_i686-apple-darwin. The result is 'Computation error'. Paul |

I am getting the very same error and I can't determine the cause. Can someone try to assist? |

Same here for several days. IMac (20-inch, half 2007) and Macbook I7 (Late 2011, Lion pre-installed). Both running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. Is there any way to remove the app from the application? (Show contents within an .APP file) |

Anyone running into this problem, please try BOINC 7.0.25. The message means that your Macintosh no longer supports PowerPC applications, not that SETI no longer provides them. The problem is that 6.10.58 was written when Intel macs could also run PowerPC applications, so it told the servers that it could accept both Intel and PowerPC applications. The older servers sent the second choice when multiple choices were offered to test which ones ran faster. The newer server software shouldn't be doing that, so the developers and admins are looking into this. In the mean time, as said, try 7.0.25, to see what that does, it should only request Intel applications. - boinc_7.0.25_macOSX_i686.zip - boinc_7.0.25_macOSX_SymbolTables.zip - boinc_7.0.25_i686-apple-darwin.zip |

Provisionally that seems to be the answer. Since installing 7.0.25 I don't have any error messages, whereas previously I was getting dozens of them cascading down the screen. Will continue for a week to verify, but I think that was the answer. |

I have been having the same problem for the past several days on my MacPro running 10.7.3 . I uninstalled BOINC version 6.*, rebooted and re-installed with version 7.* This morning I found several of those cascading error messages on my desktop. I've temporarily uninstalled BOINC until this is resolved. Will check back periodically. Thanks. Walter |

I've temporarily uninstalled BOINC until this is resolved. Will check back periodically. You didn't need to uninstall BOINC, all you may have needed to do was reset the project. Can you try that, please? |
